I have not recorded a PPV movie or event with DTV DVR yet, however, while reading posts here and other places I was very surprised to find out that if you rewatch a recorded ppv event or movie you are charged a second time, WTF???

I have tivo'ed UFC events and PPV movies for years on charter cable and rewatch them all the time with no extra charge or anything. I remember a few years ago that one time out of the blue I couldn't watch a recorded UFC a second time on tivo so I called tivo to explain that I have always been able to rewatch them. They said it was an issue with the cable company (charter) and needed to call them, I did. Charter blamed it in Tivo. I called Tivo back, again they blamed it on Charter so I called them back. Finally I gave up. A few days pass by and I'm able to watch all UFC's and PPV movies I tivo'ed again, and all future ones since. Never had the issue again.

Now I make the move to direct tv and hear this. So I guess my rant/question is what is the real story? Is it only a DTV policy? If I hook my Tivo up to a standard receive will I be able to keep and replay at no extra charge?

I may be wrong but I believe that the networks / companyies sued to make pay per view actually pay per view.

Okay then if this is the case can you only record and watch NFL games with the Sunday ticket for this season or one time only? Pretty much is the same thing!

Now if you say I can't DVR Sunday ticket NFL games and keep and watch them forever then I just may throw my hands up in the air and my DTV equipment out in the street!

After checking with several UFC fans, they have confirmed that the can rewatch UFC PPV's on their Direct TV DVR all they want at no extra charge. So maybe this just goes for PPV movies, which I still find odd.

PPV movies can only be watched within the 24 hour period they are first watched. If it is recorded & not watched then the 24 hour period is from when you first start watching. I think the 24 hrs ends at like 6am regardless of when you start watching it.

I believe this only applies to movies...

I understand the 24-hour viewing window is something forced on DirecTV by the movie studios in exchange for getting recent films sooner. I don't think there's much they can do about it.
