Dish should be ashamed of this weeks uplink vs what DTv has now... this is pathetic on their part to not have even linked ONE new hd channel up this week..... (excluding that ATT nonsense) again i repeat.. BOOOO DISH BOOO...
What you have to remember is that USA-HD could launch - and Monk and Psych could still be in SD only. There really are not many national HD channels out there that I still want aside from maybe USA for Monk and Psych.

Note that UNI-HD (same ownership) has access to Monk, and yet only the same old episodes are shown in HD, and new episodes are not in HD.
Food Network has FoodNetwork-HD, but only 2005 and 2006 episodes of "Good Eats" are shown in HD, the new 2007 episodes are only shown in SD. The show "Emeril Live" is not shown in HD at all.
So, even if you get a National Channel in HD, it is likely that your favorite show on the Channel will NOT be shown in HD.
Direct TV is accepting new customers! As for me, I'm very happy with the direction Dish is taking with their HD programming. We have several HD channels I never watch(most of the Voom), but I think we have the best of what is available. No need for "Tit for Tat", we should be holding out for the best channels until the new birds are up and going.
Maybe you know something the rest of us do not know. What direction is dish going with hd???? I would like an answer to that question.

I really don't think there is a lot of this one step forward, two steps back stuff going on. You may have cited a few examples (I wouldn't know since I don't watch those shows) but I think overall, the channels are putting more and more HD on the air, little by little, not the other direction. No?

Yes they are but some have very little currently. Food HD is dedicated but the new NBCU channels are not.
Do I have inside information? No! However, I have been a Dish customer since 1997 and have followed Charlie and His team very closely and I think they have a vision for Dish. The plans for the new satellites and the conversion to Mpeg-4 have been discussed on this forum in great detail. IMO Charlie has instructed his executive staff to focus on channels that add value to the existing HD line-up. If you are a customer who has 100 HD channels.....but only watch 30 of them......where is the added value?
