According to Scott, Wednesday is the next likely day, with Charlie Chat being when it's "officially" announced.
Highly doubtful..Charlie is probably in a pi$$ing match over the price of the channels..Since they dropped the HD mapping( on the uplink) sounds like negociations are not going well. If anything happens wednesday..My bet is come wednesday the channels will no longer be uplinked

I tend to believe that there is a technical issue rather than a negotiation issue. If there was a negotiation issue I would not think they would be uplinked.

My understanding is that cable channels do not charge providers extra per-customer fees for different resolutions. This is parallel to how E* only provides you an HD feed if you subscribe to the SD feed.

What do you mean by HD mapping being dropped??? When I look at Digi's Uplink report, I see that it is uplinked but unavailable, but that is how they normally are done at first (at least in my limited experience).

I don't see anywhere else where it says the mapping was dropped. Can you point me to what you are referring to?

Thanks,
Geoff

He's referring to this post by JohnH on that other site:

DBSTalk.Com - View Single Post - Uplink Activity for the Week of 12-06-7 ....

but he forgot to mention that in his own words that perhaps this site is "spewing BS".

I wouldn't think there is any more reason to believe this "guess" than his last one.
My guess is today, if not tomorrow, if not then the next day, etc.
This site is great for things that have already happened, but that's where it ends.

Unfortunately that's not been the case; e.g. InHd, MSG-HD, FSNY-HD.

Scott has indicated that he believes it's a technical issue but even he would admit that information can be flawed.

IAC, with few exceptions, I don't think Charlie announces new channels before they're actually on.

There has been alot of good information here prior to any announcements or actions on HD channels for both E* and D*, just look at the E* August additions of the Discovery suite, we all knew EXACTLY when to expect it, weeks before anything officially came out.

When you are dealing with Rumors and speculation, there are going to be mistakes, but when there are many instances of credible results from these rumors, you have to listen to them all.

Things have changed. In the past Dish WAS the hd leader. Not any more. I wouldn't think Dish would stir things up now. Especially now.

Agreed.
There is no way DISH is going to uplink new HD channels with their real names before contracts are worked out anymore. Charlie knows the uproar it can cause.
As long as it is here before BSG and 4400 I'll be cool. Hopefully with them not being LIVE we can lose a few of the DISH subs that threaten to leave every other day.
