Seeing a sudden spike in customers wanting Dish Network

I loathe roku tv's
As a business that sells and sets up internet....I love them. I prefer them for customers who are getting Dish as well. Too many of these new TVs are pains in the butt to navigate the inputs. Most can be set to last input used, as already stated in this thread, but some can't. And even those that CAN can be a pain in the rear to set up...it seems every time I find that feature somewhere else buried in the menu structure.

I'm terrible. Set the Power option to last input used, turn off all the AI, ads, recommendations, the stupid Anynet on Samsung and Vizio Home settings on most TV's

I do the same thing if the customer asked me to set up their TV for them. I ask them "Do you want me to make it easy for you to actually USE or leave all the crap that you have to plow through". 100% have said make it easy.

My brother's wife got an "Onn" brand Roku TV and I couldn't get it to program to the DiSH remote, so they had to use 2 remotes. Then this year it broke and I got them a Samsung...at Sam's

It's not that complicated all you need to do is select ROKE in the remote settings and for the TV set the power on setting to the HDMI port the DISH receiver is connected to

It's not connected to HDMI, rather RF-modulated ViP722 TV2 output. Prob. wasn't with what input comes up when turned on, but rather that the 722's remote wouldn't code to the TV for its power and vol. functions. They'd also gotten my mom a Roku set when she was in nursing home. The remotes have very few buttons and are VERY offputting as far as navigating menus and functions

I set one up just the other day. I was incredibly simple. When you go to program the Dish remote you go to the O section , when you scroll down to ONN there is one that has ONN (Roku)....choose that one...done. I have done many of these. Or, like has been stated, you can simply choose TCL. I have NEVER not been able to program a Dish remote to work a Roku TV.
Now when it comes to Samsung and newer Vizios, I have found that you have to choose the second code, even though the first one will do the volume...it won't do the power.

The weird thing is that if you turn off Limited Mode and hit the TV Button on the side, then hit power, it will turn the TV off, but hit SAT again and it won't... luckily this isn't on every Samsung et al TV. Also, if you setup and AVR, you have to go back and reprogram the remote for the TV.

That's why I love it when the customer has a soundbar and TV with ARC. When they ask what ARC stands for I don't tell them Audio Return Channel because I'll get that blank stare....I tell them it stands for automatic remote control, which kinda makes sense since it makes the TV the master and the soundbar the slave.

Have you explained eARC yet?

I think he's referring to an old 722 and the old remotes.

Oh crap....I hate it when I have to deal with one of those. I usually do the manually teaching.....power, vol up and down, and mute.
Same here. Luckily we're seeing them less and less. My daughter, who's been working with us for about 25 years, still remembers a bunch of the old codes, which is amazing to me.

Yeah, but do you put it in limited mode so that they can't use it to change inputs or if they try it automatically goes back to a specific channel on the TV two remotes?
