I have two newbie question about STB for the experts out there.

Are any/all STB's easily damaged if there is a short on the line? Specifically, with the voltage being transmitted on the rg6 line to the LNB, I'm wondering if this is responsible for a problem with a Sonicview I recently had fail.

I tripped on a cable today and pulled the connection loose. Latter the box went absolutely haywire and began rebooting and making clicking noises. This is not a clone, it's a SonicView that seemed to be working fine previously.

Anyhow, is this a common problem? If this is a common problem, is there any kit to let me isolate the STB and use a power injector directly to the dish?

Also, what is the best set top box for helping you "sight in" a dish?
