Is this solar storm going to effect our DISH equipment?

Is this solar storm going to effect our DISH equipment?

If it does it will probably be momentary just like all the rest we have had over the years.
 
It does vary where it will hit the earth, I have had issues a few times and checked the storm levels were at a lower level but had a bad scanning day. Figure it was hitting the west coast good.

Let's just say for a minute that really happens, how fast do you think Dish could convert all the Hopper's into Sling or IPTV Stream boxes?

But then again, the internet relies heavily on Satellite Transmissions too.
 
For some interesting reading, Google the "1859 Carrington Event". Now that was a solar storm!

It blew out some of the telegraph services and lit up the sky with Northern Lights as far south as the Caribbean.

In the Wikipedia article it talks about some telegraph operators who were able to send and transmit with their batteries disconnected!

If a Coronal Mass Ejection like that hit Earth today it would cause much more damage. It's only a matter of time before we get another one like 1859.
