The other day I noticed that my dish moves for no apparent reason. It's on a DG380 motor connected to a Sonicview 8000HD. At seemingly random times the motor will start and move the dish 10 or 20 degrees. Then it moves back at some later time. This is with the power off on the receiver (powered off by the remote, not the switch on the back of the box). The dish/motor/receiver combo works fine, pulling in the channels that I want - but I'm curious about this - what? Brownian motion? Anyone else seen this behavior? I can't find any mention of it using the "Search" tab.
thanks,
John

Wait for it to stop. Sneak up on it and turn it on real quick to see what its watching when you aren't looking. Let us know if its anything good. (Toaster porn, naughty test patterns?)

If there isn't a channel tuned in when you turn on the tv then keep practicing your stealthy skills until you are good enough to catch it in the act.

My Sonicview used to do that before I took the "hack" firmware off of it. It just does that when it's trying to update the program guide, which is useless for FTA anyway. Try putting factory firmware on it and see if that stops it.

EPG update may be it

Actually I do get an EPG on a couple of FTA channels - ION for one - I'll try turning off the standby update function and see if that stops it - although if that really is what it's doing then it's a feature, not a bug.

Thanks for the suggestions.

John

It's a feature if you like it. A bug if you don't . Some people like a tuning beep on their receiver in the antenna menu. I like to turn it off. If you can't turn it off, it's a BUG .
:)
