SQ readings - Twinhan 1020a

I know all receivers read the same signal/qulaity levels differently.

I've been told that my Classic NA reads low.

Does the Twinhan read high?

I have levels on many satellites of upper 90's as far as Quality with signal readings in the 60's.

My Classic reads most of these same transponders anywhere from 66%-88%.

So, knowing the Classic reads low, this leads me to believe that my quality is better than I thought before the Twinhan, or that while it is really good and solid, may not be as good as the Twinhan makes me think it is.

I'm basing this question mainly on readings I get from TSReader. I get equally high readings from DVBDream and Twinhan DTV programs.

That's completely opposite from my Twinhan, at least the one I'm using. I guess I should try my backup, and see what it says.

But on 95% of the signals I tune, the S/Q on the Twinhan is MUCH MUCH lower. No difference in what can be locked, just that the reading is lower.
For example, transponders that read around 80% on my STBs will typically read around 30 on the Twinhan, and the signals that are marginal, maybe around 50% on the STBs, will read in the 20% range on the Twinhan. I can often lock signals that only register around 17 on the Twinhan.

As I said, I seldom notice any signal that can be locked on the STBs that can't be locked on the Twinhan, or visa-versa, so this seems to be completely the way the S/Q registers.

Having said the above, occasionally, I'll encounter a signal that does register really high on the Twinhan, but this is really unusual, and I've always concluded that it's probably a function of the SR, as if certain SR values register higher S/Q than others, but I'm just guessing.

So it's interesting that your Twinhan reads high. I'll have to try my other one when I get a chance. Maybe we're using different versions of drivers.
If I look at the Control Panel, the video and audio drivers seem to be 1.9.0.1, while the network driver is 1.7.0.0 . I can't remember if these were the original drivers from the original CD or if I downloaded newer ones.

EDIT: I just remembered that I generally use my Twinhan slaved, which might contribute to what I'm seeing, however I don't remember seeing any significant difference when I'm using it direct to the LNB, but it might be an interesting experiment.

My Twinhan 102G is similar to B.J.'s, it always reads much lower than my STB.

Well, at one time, it seems I had lower readings on some TP's

I have my system 1 coax to Classic NA, looped to Lifetime Ultra looped to Twinhan.

I added the Ultra back in when I had some problems locking some TP's that the Classic scanned in that the Twinhan would not lock. I wanted to add the Ultra to get a 2nd "opinion" on TP's and SR's. The Classic always moves the dish. Here is a screenshot from TSReader showing my SQ for a TP on 97 W.
