So, apparently the new ethernet/http interface of the DirecTV boxes offers a lot of interesting options (especially for HTPC/PC DVR users). Most importantly, it opens up a way to control the STB via ethernet, as opposed to serial. Dish, on the other hand, doesn't even have the serial option, leaving IR the only way to control the STB. Anyone in the know have an idea if there is any sort of similar functionality planned for Dish? It couldn't really be that difficult to add the ability. I'll I'd like is the ability to shoot off a URL, or something that, that would equate to a channel change on the box.

DRA has the option of Watch on TV... I tried this once thinking it would work on TV2, but it changed TV1 instead while my girls were watching something else. Haven't tried it recently now that I have a Sling Adapter.
