New member Xourque just mentioned this new box in another thread but I decided to break it off into a separate discussion.

I have never seen one this cheap shipped from the USA before. It is so cheap it makes you think there is something not right with it. I have heard of Oceansat before and have seen their Craigslist postings for cheap FTA equipment in the NYC area.

If you look at the listing it almost pokes fun at the MicroHD and Openbox. It appears to use the same chipset as the MicroHD or Skybox.

Is it too good to be true? Is it a clone or fraudulent copy of a legit receiver?

Yikes! Very unimpressive specs! SR 4-<45 :( 4:3 only
Definately "You get what you pay for" and this one isn't much

It may work on some channels. I bet the software is just a nightmare. Order one take a $44 risk.

yeah but
Wide Symbol Rate 4~45 Mbps

so a lot of those news feeds wont be picked up then as they use 3978

also it claims HDMI yet the picture shows a/v cables??

also in the specs
PHYSICAL CHARACTERSTICS
Rear Panel Connectors:
- 1 LNB Input (2F-type)
- 2 x Audio L/R (RCA)
- 1 x Video SIGNAL (RCA)

dont see HDMI on there....nor the USB connector it claims it has

How is it HD?

From it's listed specs...

PHYSICAL CHARACTERSTICS
Rear Panel Connectors:
- 1 LNB Input (2F-type)
- 2 x Audio L/R (RCA)
- 1 x Video SIGNAL (RCA)

Composite Video? Not even a HDMI port.

I would hate to see people waste $44.

Well if they were recorded with that box (which may be possible if you add a USB hard drive) but with those specs there is no way you can output live HD to the TV.

I got a hold of them the STB does have an hdmi 1.3 port.

As a suggestion
maybe we can create a $1 or $2 account so members can donate and SatGuy can get one box such like this one or others and have someone make a review??? If is worth then we will all going to know , if not them we only loose a buck or two.

I'll give $5.

Picking someone may get ?

But I have a feeling the software will be jacked. I wonder if it's just the demo board design with some patched more times they stop changing the rev # that any good software engineer would throw a fit over. Lol

Well his ebay listing seems have the correct specs. Take note of the SCART output option as I wonder if it comes with the adapter. Someone here reviewed a box shipped from China that had this connection. It could be a clone of it.

The company website and the Ebay listing both have a hodgepodge of specs based on a SD DVBS QPSK receiver. Why would someone go to the effort of multiple postings with completely incorrect information? Unless they don't understand the technology?

here is C/P I got from their Customer Services department

here's the hd receiver back, it does it all.

Well, its not that you will make business with Puerto Rico. You can add what we ask in your site so other sponsors and colleagues FTA forums in the USA can clarify their confusions. A lot of us here in PR have families in USA so it will not be a problems for us to get the box from there using a USA address and a USA bank credit card.
Originally we heard from your box in some of our friends USA forums.

Hello
Congrats on your new HD DVB-S2 product. Can be possible to post a rear view image of the box?? There is confusion as to which connector may have. Also, a picture of the main menu look of the software will be of a great help. This is a great and affordable price product we may encourage members to get.

Regards and Again, Congratulations

Here is a pic of the back panel they emailed me:

Edit: Carlos beat me to the trigger.
