Hey guys...

I was goiing through my wallet and found a meory card in my wallet, I popped it in my PC and found a few more pictures from our Meet and Greet event at Team Summit. :)

First pic is SatelliteGuys Staff Members Ilya, GoalieBob99 and TNGTony talking to Charlie. :)

You will notice a walkthrough of Dish Networks new Remote Settop Box Health program. Its a really interesting really proactive way of customer service. Dish Network will call you if your signals are not within specs for a certain amount of time (even though you might think that everything is fine with your service) then Dish can call you and schedule a service appointment to get your signal where it should be. :)

What would a trip to Nashville be without a trip to the Grand Ole Opry House. :)

And finally Frank Caliendo performs for us. :)

The new EPG (which was only a concept design) was only shown during the presentation in which no photos were allowed. We are about a year away from seeing the 722s (if not longer)

Yes if you want to pay for it then you can buy it. :)

Just be aware that when Eastern Arc first starts you will ONLY get the HD channels. It will be a little while longer before the rest of the channels at 110/119 are mirrored so that the Eastern Arc Dish can pick them up.

so it would be smart to wait till that happens.maybe they'll make it a free upgrade like what was done with the dish 500 back in the day. thank you scott for your responses buddy.

OK. I am going to install two more coax from my head end to the satellite dishes to get ready for the new dish. My goal is to someday get everything I want on four birds instead of five that I need now since Dish apparently has no word on a five satellite switch. Thanks for the update Scott and the latest pics. You do an outstanding job.

From a marketing viewpoint, both MPEG-4 and satellite slots are not factors. Joe Sixpack does not comprehend either factor.

The Eastern Arc mostly provides engineering benefits for Dish Network to be more competitive.

These competitive factors are:

- More channels (which these days means more HD channels)
- One small dish, rather than a large dish and a second wing dish.
- Duplication means less customers lost due to building or tree in the way

While all this is interesting to satellite enthusiasts, "Eastern Arc" is not "better" than the existing Dish Network service.

It's all a result of buying a lot of spot beams on 61.5 at just the same time that HD Locals is becoming a major sales factor. The problem was that 61.5 HD Locals requires a wing dish added to a Dish 500 for 110/119. SatelliteGuys find this no problem (many have half a dozen dishes), but it is a significant problem for marketing.

The solution is to mirror 110/119 at 72.5/77, returning to a single dish setup.

Those slots in the near future will use old E* satellites that would otherwise just be spares.

That still won't stop many from calling and begging to be switched and then bitching that they aren't able to be....

I don't think that is what was meant.

I think that it will only be available to "Dish HD Only" customers because there won't be the full selection of SD channels until the whole Eastern Arc system is finished, whereas almost all the HD channels are already available at 61.5 now. Probably the 110w HD channels will be mirrored at 72.5, so those should be availalble when E*6 arrives there.

Also there is undoubtedly only a limited number of Eastern Arc dishes that would be available by September.

So far, someone who subscribes to a particular channel or package can view it anywhere in the Dish Network system - as long as you don't need new equipment installed. I don't see why they would change that policy.

I do hope they get the SD up there in the near future too. I'd just buy a EA dish and install it. As it sits I have 2 dishes and it'd be nice to slim down to one.

It'd be even better that they do it since my brother said he'd probably move to E* from D* if they get a single dish solution up.
