LSU License Plates in Georgia: Want one? | LSU Atlanta
Anybody ever heard of this happening elsewhere?
My state of WV allows out of state, as long as the college involved does not charge for the logo (the state splits the extra fee with the "sponsor" which is the local alumni chapter) and they can sell 200 plates. We only have Virginia Tech and Penn State.
People shouldn't be allowed to support their school if they reside in a different state?![]()
It's a license plate. Big deal.

That's what license plate frames are for. Ie......

Personally, I think it's a bit awkward for state supplied plates to plug an out of state school/team.
In Virginia we have an incredible array of special plates including a lot of out of state universities---Penn State and Notre Dame come to mind. Basically if a group can prove that enough plates will be offered (I don't know the number) they are made available.
My understanding is that the state raises a lot of revenue this way so what is the real objection?
seems sily to me but if you want to pay the extra fee feel free.
