This needs to be said of V21 Again and again and ....

Nobody has the bandwidth to deliver this much HD in real-time. But why doesn't anybody offer a next-day planner where you select the shows you want and then they get downloaded in the background in highest quality HD during the 16-to-20 hours that most people do not watch TV? This asynchronous use of TV would avoid the bandwidth bottleneck of delivering content real-time, and would provide the highest possible quality HD for only the shows you want, just in time for you to see them. Probably any broadband connection or any dbs has enough bandwidth for this kind of model with "tank-up" downloading.

You all may remember that AMC had no commercials for the first year or two. Then, when they had a significant number of viewers, they began breaking up the movies with commercials. That's how they pay the bills.

More like the first 10 years was commercial free. AMC began airing commercials 3 years ago. AMC had no problem making money when they were commercial free as they charged 25 cents per subscriber per month for every system they were on. Before they went commercial they had 75 million households with revinue of over $22 million/yr. Greed is why AMC went commercial. They still charge the 25 cents per subscriber, are in over 100 million households, and have additional income from commercials.

Commercial is part of the business plan of these channels. The solution is a dvr to skip them.

Now I get it! This is why the Voom DVR never rolled out. :(
