I just received a Edision MIO+ 4K from Titanium today. It came with TNAP 3.2 installed. I did a quick setup and scanned a satellite. WOW! The blind scan is excellent. Way better than the other images I tried. Way better than TNAP 2.0 . It even finds the transponders that won't lock. :) Very Nice. I'm putting this on my other receiver.

How does the software affect how effectively the hardware scans?
Well imagine a really nice expensive guitar. One that has a perfectly straight neck and in perfect tune. Now listen to someone play it that not all that great. Give the same guitar to Jimmy Hendrix and your mouth falls open.

Is it not the same hardware?

Nice analogy :)

I guess it's like running different versions of an OS on the same computer. Some might be slow and clunky, some could be quick and snappy.

Sometimes I forget that this STB is basically a computer running Linux.

El Bandido and his team worked with Edision to get better tweaked drivers, just for North America enthusiasts. They are definitely better than TNAP 2.0, and have no issues with the various mux's on 101W that are only 4 mhz apart. With TNAP 2.0, I never could trust that I'd get MOVIES channel, instead of START, when it moved from another sat to start a recording.

I had a work-around that was a every-day timer channel ZAP to 101w METV. IF it was already on 101w, TNAP 2.0 never had issues with zapping properly to Movies channel for a timed recording. But it sure did if coming from a different sat first.

Question about installing TNAP 3.2 on my osmio4k... I want to overwrite another image, while keeping my existing TNAP 1, OpenPLI and TNAP 3.2
which file should I use?
tnap-3.2-osmio4k_usb.zip or tnap-3.2-osmio4k_multiboot_ofgwrite.zip?

(1) Make a folder named "downloaded_images" (no quotes, but you need the underscore!) on the root of a usb pendrive or on the root of your hdd you have connected to record shows.
(2) Move the Zipped multiboot image that you want to install into the folder that was made in step one. (tnap-3.2-osmio4k_multiboot_ofgwrite.zip in this case, do NOT unzip it!)
(2) Using the receiver's remote, Press Menu, Setup, Flash image, then press Ok.
(3) Select the downloaded_images folder, and again press Ok.
(4) You should see the image that you downloaded. Highlight it and press Ok
(5) Select a slot number, then press Ok to install it.

Personally, I installed mine in Slot 2, and restored my user settings to it. It went real smooth, and afterwards I went through all the menus and made sure everything was set right. I had to make a few tweaks here and there, but it all went perfectly!

Thanks Mike! That's very helpful!

so, just curious, in what circumstances would one use the other image file (the USB one)? I also notice that it's a bit larger than the multiboot one

You'd use that on a pendrive all alone, and IF you want it to FORCE load only in Slot 1. Basically, it's the initial image for a receiver that has nothing else on it, or that doesn't boot/boot image is messed up.

Well I loaded 3.2 on my MIO and found a huge problem with it. It won't switch my DiSEqC 1.0 switch reliably. :( TNAP 2.0 and 3.0 it's no problem. Always something. :(

I just installed it and ran into a few problems... But the Diseqc switching has been fine, despite being a bit of a complex setup (using a combination of 1.2 for the ASC1, and 1.1 and 1.0 stacked switches).
What I ran into:
- yesterday the box got stuck at the Edision logo, while displaying Boot on the front panel. I was able to telnet and ftp, so I was able to save the config and export the channels, then overwrote the image with a fresh install. But no idea what went wrong
- several time I ran into very mediocre blind scans, like missing KBS World on 123W Ku, or missing NASA on 127 C, or a few scans on 87W Ku came up only with the CNN feeds, no Patient, no LPB (I rebooted to try to solve that and that's when it locked up on the Edision logo)

all in all it's been otherwise good, but the blind scanning problems is a bit of a concern.

on the positive side, on some satellites, the blind scanning seems to be much faster than with other images.

I have yet to test it with really narrow signals like the CRI mux on 45W Ku or the SERSAT mux on 30W

Updated mine to this version yesterday. Had no HDMI output when trying 3.0 but this one worked perfectly. Loaded previous settings and channel lists and all seems fine so far. Blind scan on 101w C-band does seem a bit better catching a couple TPs I didn't get before.
Thanks to the El Bandido team!

No known DiSEqC switching on 3.2. I use a 1.0 switch for C/Ku selection on the shop system.

Occassionaly, services are skipped during scans, but I haven't found these services to be skipped on my scans.

If the uplinked hasn't properly built the tables, services may logged and populate only in the last scanned list, but would need to be saved to a favorites TV or Radio list.

3.2 has been distributed for 5 months without ongoing reported issues. You might consider providing this feedback on Legitfta as a new release version is currently being compiled.

Also, once the STB is updated to TNAP version 3.2 are you then updating the firmware? You may be running originsl release 3.2 firmware without the commits.

Connect the STB to the router with Internet connection. Press Menu>>> Setup>>> Software Update>>>

YES, everybody needs to check this!

I did this after updating mine a few weeks back, and it loaded a LOT of updates commits. I used the .ofgwrite Mio file in Slot 2, that I had downloaded back in April, but never updated to it until now. Easiest update I've ever done, and I LOVE this version!

I downloaded the firmware from the legitfta site last week, the date of the image seems to be May 17. When I did a software update in the GUI, there was only one package update. Does that sound right or should there be more updates since May 17?

I think I am rather clueless... how can I tell if my box is fully up to date?

Under Information / About , it doesn’t show any updated dates past May 17.

When I perform a software update, it says No Packages Updated. But I do see the latest commit for Enigma2 was 8/31.
