Tonights Twins / Yankees Game Blocked??

So what FSN should be asking (if any) is for extra $ just from the E* subs in the Minneapolis area and not the rest of MN, the entire IA and the other states the Twins claim as their territory.

They save those few cents...but they pay a few hundred million for Blockbuster's worthless assets? Go figure. Charlie, you haven't a clue what your customers want.

It is bait. I just switched to Dish a few months ago not knowing that they didn't offer Fox Sports Detroit HD full time. Their online channel list clearly shows FSN Detroit along with all these other RSNs. How could anyone possibly know by looking at the information they put out that these channels aren't full time. It is so misleading and I would have never switched to dish if I knew this before hand. I am so fed up with their service and I will never be their customer again once my contract is up if it isn't fixed before then.

This is a whole new thing though. I am completely frustrated to not have all my Tigers, Wings, and Pistions games in HD, but at least they seem to have them all in SD so far. For them to not show the game at all would make me completely furious.

I would be alright with them treating my RSN as a premium channel like you mentioned as long as they offered every game available in HD. $10 is a bit much for one channel though. If it was around 5 I would pay it. This shouldn't even be an issue though because every other provider, at least in my state, provides my RSN in their basic package and they do it in HD.

Exactly. Totally misleading. I'm in the same boat. :-(

If I wasn't 3 months in to a 2 year contract I would be gone today. I refuse to give Dish $200 or whatever it is to break my contract when they pretty much lied to get me into the contract in the first place.

I have to admit that besides the way they handle sports I am pretty happy with dish. I really like the way they map the HD channel numbers so they are the same number as the SD channel. It was really annoying having to remember 2 channel numbers for each channel depending on which room you were watching it in.

Dish has a lot of pluses for me so I hope they fix their mess with all these RSN issues soon. If not I will be gone the day my contract expires and they will never get my business again.

Fox sports north is currently replaying last night's yankees twins game. The program guide also shows tonight's game as being broadcast at 6 pm central time. It shows it being broadcast in both standard definition and high definition.

I'm not exactly sure how the blackout rules work. Should ESPN games be blacked out for Dish subs who can't receive their RSNs at all, like YES & SNY for example??

unless its Sunday night they should be blacked out as they want you to watch it on the RSN. MLB Net (yes I know Dish doesnt carry it but I'm using that example too) works the same way...HOWEVER if the RSN in question is not televising the game then it is not blacked out

I understand that, but I was asking about situations where the RSN isn't available from a provider at all.

doesnt matter....its still blacked out. Yankee fans who (for some reason) still have Dish have complained about that for years.

From StarTribune:

Dish Network subscribers are one step closer to seeing the Twins play the Yankees Thursday afternoon. Dish is among four cable and satellite providers who have only agreed to televise 105 of the 150 games slated for Fox Sports North. But FSN's general manager, Mike Dimond, said Wednesday afternoon that talks have become "positive" with Dish.
About 37 percent of homes in the region have been affected. If Dish and FSN strike a deal to air all 150 games, that number drops to about 21 percent, Dimond said.
The other providers -- Charter Communications, Mediacom and Cable One -- are most prominent in Fargo, Duluth, Rochester, Mankato, St. Cloud, Excelsior and parts of Iowa.
FSN increased the number of games on its schedule after reaching an agreement with the Twins to become the team's exclusive home on TV.
Twins President Dave St. Peter said the team is taking the situation seriously. "Accessibility of the product is essential for our brand," he said. "It is our belief that any hiccups will be resolved in the future."

I'm done. Scheduled a Directv install for tomorrow afternoon.

There were actually a lot of things I liked about Dish but in the end I just got tired of the programming disputes. I know Directv has had disputes too but with Dish I'm now afraid of what channels or programs I'll lose tomorrow or the next day or the next day. I feel like with Dish I could turn on The Masters this weekend to find that they've dropped my local CBS affiliate.

I understand both sides of the argument and I understand the networks (FSN) have a hand in this too but at the end of the day the service provider (Dish) has to find a way to deliver the product(s) their customers desire.

Saving you money....so Charlie can buy Blockbuster.....ohhh I know......Blockbuster Online is gonna carry ....YES, SNY, MSG's and the other RSN's (four days delayed broadcast of course) or any other channel when they want a few more pennies per month.

Welcome to our world:rant:

I hear ya and am getting close to pulling the trigger on DISH too.....I realize that both DISH and Direct both have disputes but DISH seems to have way more than Direct has.
