tony stewart hits driver

I have watched the video many times downloaded it and went through the video a frame at a time. I am not a sprint car expert, but have been to sprint car races many times. There is absolutely nothing on that video that would lead me to believe that it was in any way Tony’s fault.

Watch from about the 4 minute mark on ...

Thank you for this post... exactly why I've not posted more in this thread. I disagree though ;) watch the whole video, it's worth 4 minutes of your time.
To answer I've been to approx 10 sprint car races, countless supermodified races at many tracks, from Oswego NY to Ontario, CAN, 4 NASCAR races, and further countless nights at the local short (asphalt) track watching my cousin race. I watch and DVR pretty well every race on my dish and have MAV. I've lost a family member at the race track. I am a well qualified race fan.
As was eluded to earlier, if he did indeed hit the gas, it may very well have been to steering input in avoidance.
Best to avoid all the "Enquirer" journalism and comments right now. I stated my view earlier, there's no way this was on purpose or with any criminal intent. I hope Tony can race in Michigan on Sunday. And I hope JR. whips em all.

Only if the driver could reasonably be expected to miss him.

When I first saw the video, I thought the guy in front of Tony Stewart was going to be the one to hit the guy. Instead he narrowly swerved out of the way and barely missed him. There was no way for the guy behind him (Stewart) to have time enough to react as quickly, as all he saw at first was the car in front of him swerve and then the victim. He thus had less time himself to react than the driver who had been in front of him and barely missed the guy.
I agree ...

Been to both of these tracks many times. Really like Williamsgrove much better because of being able to get in the infield. Not near as much dirt to eat.

Sprint cars are fast, loud & way better than watching a cup road race.

I don't disagree that it's probably hard to see out of the drivers seat on these things. With that said I still believe Tony was trying to intimidate Ward & not intentionally hurt him.

2 of the drivers in the race seem to think that as well.

I hope there are tougher consequences for guys getting out of their cars in the heat of the moment after a wreck. Also for stuff like throwing helmets & any other unsportsmanlike conduct. If I wanted to see 3 yr old kids throw a tantrum I'd just go to Walmart.

Fines don't do much good for guys with deep pockets like many of the Nascar drivers. Officials could get creative for punishment.

If a driver wrecks another intentionally & is called on it. The guy that was wrecked should have the option to challenge the accuser to a boxing match setup in the winners circle as an after race ceremony to settle any disputes. If the accuser does not accept the challenge he forfeits the next race.

Regardless of how they do it, this incident should make the racing community take a good hard look at enforcing the rules for conduct & keep the fans coming back.

The whole idea of dirt track racing is to have fun . I realize all the drivers love to compete against tony Stewart at their level ( Who wouldn't) I just think he is a bit too aggressive..Here's a link about an accident at that same track a year (not the current incident)ago..http://nypost.com/2014/08/12/cousin-of-driver-stewart-injured-last-year-wants-him-banned/
That may be the idea if your a Big Time racer already, other than that, NO, it's not just to have fun, those guys out there are out there trying to win as badly as they can, trying to "get spotted" by someone so they can potentially move up.

these are itty bitty dirt tracks..not trying to be spotted..good ole boys looking for leisure.

Should never have gotten out of the car. So if you get in a accident on the freeway you can jump out of the car and start walking into on coming traffic and not expect to get hit. It was a stupid mistake he made and it cost him his life.
