Transponder Problems on AMC-3

Ok I have a strange problem & have been waiting to post until I checked it out all the way. I have three of the Openbox S-9 machines. I am using them on AMc-3 C-Band for the rtv channels. Only one of them will pull all of the T/P's..ie the 3800's and the 4080's getting all the channels that are active. The other two only get the stronger ones at 4080. I can hook up any of the receivers at any of the lines coming from the switch which is a DP-34 and no matter where they are connected the same problems happens. The signal strength and quality are great on all channels on the one rec but are not enough to pop channels on the weaker (3800) on the other two. I have peaked the antenna out as far as possible without have a highend meter. Sure would like to know that answer to my strange problem. How could the one rec do what the other two won't ?

Might give up a few more details, like how big is the dish, and your wiring details. I think a DP-34 is a dish network switch, might work perfectly fine for what you're doing, but I'll let the switch gurus sort that out for you! Seems that if one receiver of the three identical ones receive everything , they all should.

try bypassing the switch temporarily....test all 3 receivers out again....do you still get the same problem when your connected directly to the lnb without the switch??

Seems that if one receiver of the three identical ones receive everything , they all should.

I really don't think he should be using a DISH PRO switch. Instead should be using a disec switch. Have a feeling that could be his problem.

If the LNB is bandstacked (there are bandstacked C-Band LNB's) he can use the DP34. Folks have used them before here with old Superdish LNB's or these C-Band LNB's.
Clean simple install but the one issue is they do require alot of power to work properly.

If the LNB isnt the right type I dont think the DP34 works properly

But he says one receiver works fine but the other 2 don't so it could be a myriad of things.

If he is only running that dish in his setup I personally would change that switch out. I've used DP34's on FTA setups and while easy setup they can have issues

The dish is an 11 footer with a brand new geo-c2. The one rec that gets everything is running 86% signal and 76% Q. I have bypassed the switch and still have same problem. The only reason I'm using the dishnet switch is becauce I don't have a diseqc that will allow more than one rec output. I have not had any issues with the switch. It seems that the one rec has a lower threshold. It may be newer or older as far as the chipset or tuner possibly and thats just a guess. I had an Azbox at first and it would not pull the weaker T/P's so I got the openbox and one of three of them gets all the T/P's. I know this is a weird problem but thats how my luck goes. I have tried many different things such as bypassing the switch, moving the rec's around to the different locations in the house but it does not matter which line i try, the same problems exists.

Ok Ice..I bought that switch...Now to hook it up, I am running another 33 inch KU band antenna with a invacom lnb, What would the connections be? I see that the Zinwell has 18 volt, ant and 13 volt connections. i am thinking that the middle conection ( ant) is an off the air.

Then the next question would be the setting on the receivers...would I use the diseqc 1.0 or 1.1 etc.. and that switch will probably only have two ports ??

a 3x4 switch will only let you hookup one LNB....you cant use it for your c-band LNB AND your invacom

If you are using the 3x4 switch with the GEOSATpro C2, no switch setting are necessary as this is a voltage controlled switch. Just make sure your receivers are configured for the default 18vdc = Horizontal and 13vdc = Vertical.

Correct! The 13 and the 18 connect to the dual output LNBF and the middle connection is for optional terrestrial antenna for use with diplexers at the receiver(s).

Right...I need two different lnb's on two different dishes ran into the switch..and then out to three receivers.

No it is fixed on AMC-9 @ 83 W.

I found a Channel Master multiswitch 4x4 out in my shop. It appears to be that same switch.
