VIP722DVR Malfunctioning

I purchased this receiver a few years ago from one of the internet stores that is listed on the Satelliteguys website. Lately, it has been malfunctioning in two ways:
1. Even though timers are set to record only new shows, they are recording old ones;
2. Some shows record only for a few minutes and then stop. For example, last night I recorded The Good Wife but it stopped recording after 2 minutes.

Is there anything I can do to correct these problems. I assume I cannot talk to the Dish techs since I did not purchase the receiver from them.

I can't comment on issue number 2 - but I have number one happen to me all the time. It appears that when the guide data is generic and not episode specific the DVR sees it as a new episode. I usually check the schedule on the DVR once a week to clear out the obvious ones. This happens a lot with kids shows that re-run over and over like iCarly and Clone Wars (I have a 5 year old so I record them both).
