999 Inside VOOM - Live Now

This is the same lineup that we have known since November 2003. We all know that these channels that are not live now, will be live by 2/1/04 or first quarter of 2004.

Newsbyte might be live but not really since they just show the weather map. So to call this channel live is an exaggeration. Look at the channel line up in the read me first thread. I think this is just a repost of what we have known all along since November 2003.:)

What is this now we are looking at Q1 of '04 ? That basically means by 3/31/04. What happend to 39 HD channels by 2/1/04 ? That means our free programming until 2/29/04 is getting less and less valuable. What this basically means is we will never see channels like ESPN or Cinemax, etc. for free. By the time they debut on VOOM we will have to subscribe to that Plus Pack to get that channel or we will not see it. VOOM should extend the free offer by offering us all the Plus Packs included in the $ 39.90 after 2/29/04. Look, I expect us to have to pay for the programming eventually, but the $ 14.90 additional for the Plus Packs should be waived for a few months so we can see these channels when they debut. If they ever debut...

I do not believe that this 1st Quarter statement came from any VOOM official. Someone just made up that. As I understand it, the goal is to have 39 HD channels by 2/1/04 not 3/31/04. Otherwise, it will be an issue with me keeping the STB beyond 2/1/04 without the 39 HD channels. I need to see 39 HD channels by 2/1/04. :)

I hope your right Sean. If they don't have those channels up by the money back guarantee date they are going to have a lot of cancellations starting right here with me first. :x

That's exactly my point, Lucky. You will not be the only one to cancel as others and myself will cancel immediately if we don't get these channels by 2/1/04. Of course, if V* extends the free-programming period I will go for that as well.

Again, it will make very little business sense to build up a base of subscribers and then lose it. I think VOOM needs to get these channels by 2/1/04 or they will be getting a lot of equipment back.

I asked for source and didn't get one, though it may have came from the infamous web page originally and passed through many meat griders en route. To me we are already past By 1Q CY04.

LOL the subscriber base is a little less than 5,000 people. I think the reason the plus packs were free was VOOM was in Beta and the programming lineup was not complete.

PlusPacks

Lucky, one free PlusPack beyond 2/29/04 for free is exactly what I was offered at sign up. I clarified this several times with the CSR at the time and again with another on one of my many calls to VOOM. Something about being a "Charter Member"...

I will certainly cancel by 2/15 if line up of channels are not live. I have too much invested in Direct equipment to make a change. I am not impressed at all with VOOM thus far. Don't like the receiver at all, doesn't compare with Direct. SD does not compare in quality with Direct on my 55" set. Very dissappointed with the whole deal. You can say it has been no cost. But they have had our $800 for 2 to 3 months now. Wonder what kind of interest they have made on that.
