What sats are available in the Boston area? what can I pick up? would it be more or less than in Santa Barbara ca?

it depends on line of site, what you are working with and the footprint

Someone in Boston will be able to see the atlantic satellites like Hispasat 1 at 30W and even T12 at 15W whereas here in MN I can barely get Hispasat (its at a 10 elevation)...west coast surely can't
