I just was speaking with a DIRECTV CSR regarding the Whole Home DVR Service and he informed me that my old HR20-700 DVR would not work with the new system. He said I would need both a new HDDVR plus a new HD Receiver for the second TV. I have many recordings on the old HR20-700 and don't want to lose them. Plus it has always functioned perfectly and I would hate to take a chance with an unknown new receiver. I'd appreciate knowing from those with Whole Home experience if my old HR20-700 really won't work with the Whole Home DVR Service. Thanks for the help.

The HR20-700 will work fine with WHDVR, I have one. But remember you need to have an SWM system for WHDVR, and then just need a DECA connected between the HR20 and the coax. Then another HD receiver (not an H20) or DVR; if it's an H24 or HR24 you don't need a DECA for the additional receiver, otherwise you do.
What equipment do you currently have? It might be worth just asking DirecTV to do the complete WHDVR system, it can be cheaper than trying to do it yourself.
