Why do we care about DirecTV and the shareholders who don't care about us?

You are so right Jamey. I know they could care less, they just want those big fat checks.

Hate to tell ya but D* stockholders don't get any big fat checks, they don't pay dividends.

They sure do, why would investors put money into buying stocks if they don't get anything in return? The board of directors make a killing.

Why would an investor pump a million dollars into DirecTV for free?

Please show me where the regular stockholder get's paid a dividend for DTV stock? Why do they buy the stock, they hope the price of the stock will increase in value to make their profit. There's a number of companies that don't pay a dividend that are larger then D*, Cisco is one of them and IIRC Microsoft didn't pay any either until recently.

Board of directors make their killing in stock options where they are granted a number of shares they can purchase for a set price, usually below the current market price and then they can turn around and sell them at market price.

They do pay when they can! It's up to the Board of Directors to decide if it is fesable. They announce based on performance if it is going to happen.

Again why would someone (an investor) pump a million into DirecTV stocks if they get nothing in return? They must be working on the greater fool theory.

That is different from your statement that D* DOES pay a dividend. If you check a site like DTV: The DIRECTV Group, Inc. Stock Report | Returns you'll see that D* hasn't paid one since 2003. But you're rather just post BS as facts and hope nobody calls you on it.

Guess I need to add you to my ignore list on this site also. I got tired of all your BS over at the other guys, making statments that are nowhere near the truth and not listening to facts.

Buy JTN.

Well I see that your loyalty is not with this site, but with DBStalk whom I don't care for. But any idiot who gives money to a company and gets nothing in return is retarded. A complete fool. And yes I am making many aware that there are many out there. It's a damn shame. Wasted money. Like the former Director of the Security and Exchange Commission stated, it's the greater fool theory, like what brought down the dot.bombs of early 2000. You know like Mortgage.com in Florida.

Thank you Mkatts for speaking your mind, and verifying they could care less, it's all about money (money = Satan).

Since I do not work for DirecTV, I cannot verify anything.

But find me one damn company in the world that is not in their respective business to make money?

Your argumnet here is dumb.
Do you have a job? Do you get paid? Would you continue to do the job if they stopped paying you?

I'll answer that if you do. What do you do?

:eek:JTN am I to believe you were fooled into thinking that Directv is a non profit organization?:eek:

:eurekaIn this great democracy of free enterprise you are entitled as a consumer to buy those goods that you deem to be worthy.

Since you do not deem D* to have the right value for you dont get it.

As for vurbano I was shocked that someone who has so staunchly opposed D*'s value would continue to pay.

JTN, while you believe that money = satan, (BTW I love MONEY!) I think people who continue to spend money on things that they dont think are worth it, should be called fools.

Dont you agree?

Once people are treated as equals and paid the same for performing the same services, not based on politics, favoritism, nepotism, then yes. Unfortunately too much corruption, so it's unfair and not up to the constitutional standards.

When a company can dupe a shareholder or investor into paying money and getting nothing in return, that is so wrong, don't you think? I do.

Lies and manipulation to get DirecTV ahead or any other company is inappropriate. Stealing is wrong, no matter who it is or the company.

huh, sounds like a bunch of jargon and rhetoric.

And you answered the question I asked with a question.

The question was a simple one. If you think that a company is using deceptive practices, and there are soooo many other options out there, wouldnt a person be considered a fool to continue to pay said company for their services?

People are forced to deal with the corrupt companies because most are, so what can you do? Not much right?

Isn't that called Socialism? Hasn't worked out too well in most of the world. Sorry, wrong forum, I know...

I'm not sure how many stocks you have ever owned, but there are plenty that don't pay dividends. People buy them with the hope that the price will go up and they can sell them later. If they are "duped" into buying, it's their own fault for being stupid.

Stealing what? Did someone force you to buy DirecTV? After reading another post from you in a different area of this site I think it's clear that you just have a bone to pick with DirecTV and/or some strange affinity with cable, and don't really care about any accurate facts. The only thing I've seen you post that is remotely true is the fact that you are locked into a contract with DirecTV and not with cable. Many other companies do this, so I'm not sure why it's such a big deal. They do it so that they can get back their costs and, by the way, staying two years helps you defray the startup costs as well and makes it much cheaper, from my personal experience and that of many others, to get the same thing or more from DirecTV over the course of the two year period.

If you don't have the upfront cash (although if you don't have $200 why are you spending $70+/mo for cable?) or you are planning to cancel in three months, don't go with DirecTV. It's your decision. If you like cable better, go with them - it's your decision. Do whatever you want, but don't come here acting like we're still stupid for making the decision that is right for us, or trolling against DirecTV, which is obviously what you're doing.

I can only respond to your statement about Vurbano.

In my opinion, he continues to subscribe to D* because he enjoys bitching about them too much to ever quit.

He had a chance to go with FIOS and didn't, claiming that the FIOS DVR wasn't good enough. In my opinion, just an excuse!
