Yankee's Crying Poor?

Oh please....so you might have played a little high school baseball....maybe even some college...and NOW you think you can outplay him? He hit .300 in 5 of his 12 complete seasons....I bet you could not hit one fiftieth of that. He has a career .292 batting average, he is NO WAY a HOFer, but I wouldn't be surprised that there are players in the HOF that do not have a career batting average of .292. AND 3 gold gloves to boot....

Wow, just ten minutes before this post you called Castillo a journeyman infielder when I compared him to Santana. Now you flip and tell us how great he is....

:D :D :D

Errrrrrrrr. Wrong again Mr. Baseball.

Pitching is the most important facet of the game. Pitching, more so than hitting and defense gets you to the playoffs. Believe it or not, but it matters in the regular season too!

Let's review the '08 MLB season and take the top 10 teams in each statistical category from the 2008 regular season. In red I showed the teams who ended up advancing to the playoffs....

Pitching (Sorted by best ERA)
1. Toronto
2. LA Dodgers
3. Tampa Bay
4. Milwaukee
5. Chicago Cubs
6. Philadelphia
7. Arizona
8. LA Angels
9. Boston
10. Oakland

Hitting (Sorted by most runs)
1. Texas
2. Ch. Cubs
3. Boston
4. Minnesota
5. Detroit
6. Ch. Sox
7. Cleveland
8. NY Mets
9. Philadelphia
10. NY Yankees

Fielding (Sorted by least amount of errors)
1. Houston
2. NY Mets
3. NY Yankees
4. Toronto
5. San Diego
6. St. Louis
7. Boston
8. Tampa Bay
9. Philadelphia
10. LA Angels

You just proved my point!!! LMAO!! The Phillies were in the top ten in hitting AND fielding at the end of the regular season....NOT in pitching....and they made the playoffs! Boston and the Rays were in the top ten in hitting and I think Tampa was top 15 in fielding, played in the AL Championship....and Philadelphia and LA were in the NL champioship.

NOW go get pitching in the post season and you will more than likely see that the Phillies were MORE than likely in the top 3 or 4 of ALL the playoff teams....again proving my point that hitting and defense gets tyou to the playoffs, pitching wins in the playoffs....;)

In the playoffs, good pitching ALWAYS beats good hitting. But good hitting AND defense is what GETS YOU TO THE PLAYOFFS!

LMAO!! Nice try slick! I NEVER said he was great.....I simply put that neither YOU nor Sabre could lace up is cleats as far being a baseball player....

YOU said he was great.....

Your bad knees are starting to show under your slip....;)

You went on and on about his career accomplishments...right after calling him a journeyman infielder.

Why is it silly? There is a HUGE difference in baseball between A ball and Major Leagues....and the difference between high school and A ball is 10 times more.
My pitchers ALSO play the field...they also hit. Major League pitchers don't. I Major League pitcher screws up and gives up a home run, seldom does he have a chance to make up for it. A Major League infielder screws up, he has a chance to redeem himself.

I'm guessing you never heard of that OBSCURE organization named THE NATIONAL LEAGUE - that's the one where MAJOR LEAGUE PITCHERS even bat.

Some expert.

HDD stats proved it....but don't let numbers scare you little lady....they tend not to lie...

My stats proved that great regular season pitching is what advances teams to the playoffs more so than hitting or fielding.

How much clearer do you need it spelled out for you? I even highlighted the playoff teams in each category......

6 of the top 10 pitching teams went to the playoffs
4 of the top 10 fielding teams went to the playoffs
4 of the top 10 hitting teams went to the playoffs

Only 2 teams were top 10 in both fielding & hitting. And guess what? They were also top 10 in pitching!!!!

How did you miss my very concise list I provided? Philly was #6 in best ERA last year!

Boston and the Rays were in the top ten in hitting and I think Tampa was top 15 in fielding, played in the AL Championship....and Philadelphia and LA were in the NL champioship.

Sure Boston was top 10 in hitting and fielding, but they were also top 10 in pitching! (MY entire point that pitching is most important! There is no one that was top 10 in hitting AND fielding that made the playoffs!) Without pitching, you simply don't advance to the playoffs, no matter how good your hitting AND fielding are as you suggest.

NOW go get pitching in the post season and you will more than likely see that the Phillies were MORE than likely in the top 3 or 4 of ALL the playoff teams....again proving my point that hitting and defense gets tyou to the playoffs, pitching wins in the playoffs....

You should quit before you dig yourself too deep! Philly was 6th best in ERA last year.

Oh ok....sorry...National League pitchers go abat. IF you call what they do as hitting, as compared to some worst of every day players....LOL! wow.....

Please find where I have EVER stated I was an expert. IF you can do that, with your staff powers....I will gracefully walk away from the conversation, apologize and move on.

Well, if not an expert, we at least thought you knew NL pitchers also batted.
