Yankee's Crying Poor?

Please find where I have EVER stated I was an expert. IF you can do that, with your staff powers....I will gracefully walk away from the conversation, apologize and move on.

It's not what you actually stated, it's what you imply. In several threads you throw around your credentials in being involved with sports media, a baseball player and a coach. When you do that, it makes it seem like your "tooting your own horn" by implying you're "in the know" and you're "more knowledgeable" than the other posters....

My Bad. Generally when someone takes the time to preface a post by giving their backfround and credentials, they are attempting to bolster their comments by giving what would be considered an 'experts' opinion. Your previous posting which included the following appeared as such:

" NOW I can start answering some of this wonderful junk mail. I have been in baseball almost as long as you been alive, from little leagues, to college to single A ball to now being assistant head baseball coach at one of the best baseball programs in all of Florida and the United States"

But I was wrong because now I clearly see you are NOT an expert. Sorry.

How did you miss my very concise list I provided? Philly was #6 in best ERA last year

Sure Boston was top 10 in hitting and fielding, but they were also top 10 in pitching! (MY entire point that pitching is most important! There is no one that was top 10 in hitting AND fielding that made the playoffs!) Without pitching, you simply don't advance to the playoffs, no matter how good your hitting AND fielding are as you suggest

You should quit before you dig yourself too deep! Philly was 6th best in ERA last year.

I admit I missed the Tampa Bay one. But Toronto had the best ERA in the League, did they make the playoffs? Arizona and Oakland were in the playoffs weren't they? What got Philadelphia in the playoffs was not their pitching as much as theit hitting and defense.

MY credentials were posted because Sandra questioned my love for baseball, NOT because I considered myself an expert. Try a little reading comprehension, it goes a very long way.:up;)

Well - now that you have told us why you posted your credentials I know. All the reading comprehension in the world wouldn't let me know that until you cleared it up.

BTW, have you ever heard of the NATIONAL LEAGUE?

I post what I have done because I have seen, heard and covered some things that most have not. Not because I know more than most. GOD forbid someone that may have a little incite enter your worlds of being an average fan. I TOO am a fan, I just try not to think TOO much with my heart when stating opinions, that is the media part of me.;)

But I sure as sh** ain't gonna apologize for it.

I have...and I have replied....if you consider what they do as hitting, compared to professional baseball from any level...you would see it my way. But with that said, I would STILL take it over the DH any day of the week.

OMG! Are you kidding me?! Please restrain me Sandra! ..........

I did not say being in the top 10 guarantees a playoff spot, I did however show that pitching MORE SO than fielding and hitting advances teams to the playoffs. How you can seriously derive anything else from the statistics I provided?

Please....spare me the melodramatics.....LOL! I never said that a top 10 make you a playoff team....you just stated pitching is the most important aspect of baseball and if that were the case, Toronto, Oakland and Arizona should have been there...

I dont know how Salsa can say that a pitcher is not the most valuable player on a baseball team.. Hell If not for the Dominating Pitching staff of the Braves in the 90s they would of never won those world series... Pitching won the braves their championships.. The marlins Second title was also won on Great pitching. Pitchers are the quaterbacks of MLB. If your pitching sucks it doesnt matter how good your batters are...

Check it. CC is good. But the man cant pitch in the playoffs. For some strange reason he just cant.

Go Cavs!

Again, I have never said he was not good. Look at it this way, let's say he is the best pitcher in the game now....and say you have to start a team with either HIM or say...A.Rod or Pujols...you cannot be saying the Sabathia is the same breath as these guys can you? Seriously?

Please go back what I said.....

I said...again....that pitching wins in the playoffs...hitting and defense gets you there.

Defense wins championships youve heard that saying right?

First off, the Yankees overspend on every player. How the Steinbrenners spend their money is not for you and I to debate.

What can be debated though is the worthiness of pitchers to a major league ball club. My argument is that great pitchers are worth just as much, if not more than every day players.

The reason? A pitcher can have a direct impact on the outcome of each game they pitch.

Take for instance Cliff Lee. Last year, Lee won 22 games. The team he pitched for (Indians) won a total of 81 games. That meant Cliff accounted for over 27% of the Indians overall wins!

Show me a position player that had 22 walk off homers or game deciding field play that directly accounted for 27% of their teams wins in a single season.......

What are we doing here, then?

Without the pitching you still dont get their..

A top 10 pitching team will always beat a top 10 hitting team. Heck what happend to the Yankees? Their power hitters got destroyed by the Marlins power pitching..

Yes.....I am not debating what wins championships....I am debating WHAT GETS YOU THERE.

By the way, those Marlins team that you eluded to, they pitching would come around later in the season, those Marlins team HIT, played the field very well AND stole bases by the handful!

AGAIN, in the playoffs are different than the regular season. I am not debating anything you have said about the playoffs.

Really....?! So what happened to Oakland, Toronto and Arizona? How did THEY do in the playoffs?
