Michigan hires rich rodriquez

And what are you all gonna say NEXT year at this time when Miles name comes up again and he decides to actually go thru with it and LEAVE ?

Paul,
This is a good hire for you guy's :eureka

Already there have been talk of michigan players leaving .... well see if that actually happens or if it's a knee jerk reaction.

Jimbo

But it wasn't.

On that Saturday morning (12/1/07), Herbstreit reported that "barring unforseen events, Michigan would announce that Miles would accept their head coaching job and...that Georgia Tech defensive coordinator and interim head coach Jon Tenuta would go with him." He knew himself it was still just speculation, and threw in the "unforseen events" part in an attempt to cover his arse if things didn't turn out the way he said.

Herbie was trying to beat everyone to the punch and his arse wound up getting bitten instead of covered. It's all part of entertainment journalism. :)

herbie was smart enough to put a qualifier in his report. but as salsa said, college coaches are notorious for talking out both sides of their mouth at the same time.

i did not hear herbie's report but i still believe it was accurate enough at the time to be released.

salsa, what you say about college coaches is true. one nick saban comes to mind. but bayless is still an a**!

He should have just taken the Alabama job if he didn't plan on staying in the first place.

I'm not sure what my fellow Tiger fans and I will say, but I know what we'll do:

If LSU wins the MNC this year, :river. If LSU loses, :wave.

I know that's being a little harsh, but we want a case full of championship trophies too! (I saw what Tressel was sitting in front of during the BCS announcement show - a little attempt at intimidation perhaps? ;))

Geaux Tigers!!!

Hey Paul, looks like Terrelle Pryor put Michigan on his list now that Rodriquez is moving on to Michigan.

Rivals.com Football Recruiting - Pryor: Add Michigan to my list

BTW....Pryor and the Jeannette Jayhawks won the state championship, you should see this kid play, he does it all.

Jeannette Jayhawks Football: 2007 State Champions

Isn't this the same kid you said might be heading to the evil empire (Ohio State)? If he's coming to MICHIGAN, along with RB Sam McGuffie from Texas, I think we'll be looking pretty good in a hurry. I'm still shell-shocked by the Rodriguez hiring - never thought we could get him. I like him better than Miles. It was time to end the Schembeckler era. The college game has moved from "3 yards and a cloud of dust", and it was time for MICHIGAN to move into the 21st century.

Lemme repeat what Ice just said...Skip Balls-less is a COMPLETE ass****!
You guys listen WAY too much to what universities and coaches say. College coaches are NOTORIOUS for talking out of both sides of their moves when it comes to "I am staying" and "I am leaving". It is a little chess game between the university presidents and the agents of the coaches.

I think I just defended SH** Bayless....I think I just threw-up in my mouth....:what:yikes

Bayless is an entertainer, not much different from "shock jocks" and sports fan radio. Say something stupid, outrageous or inflammatory, and see if it sticks to the wall. His job is to be a contrarian. I really don't give the man much credence. He just says things to get a reaction from everyone. Entertainment, plain and simple. Doing what he's paid to do.

unlike shock jocks, bayless does have a resume full of decent reporting jobs including the san jose mercury news, which was a decent newspaper at one time.

while, i admit television is different....he still has a background in sports commentary. i will tell you a sports reporter for the local paper whom i have spoken with before never has held bayless in esteem. i believe my acquaintence even said bayless was a bigger prick than stephen a. smith.

Win or lose, Miles isn't going anywhere. You wanted him, you got him. If he loses the the championship, who else is going to pay him the kind of money LSU just gave him? On the positive side, he is a good coach.

I have worked with him and his little crew before....Stephen A. is a PRIEST compared to that dipstick!

Yeah, Miles will be at LSU a few more years, unless the pros come knocking. Personally, I like him - no brains and big onions keep the game interesting (although I think I developed an ulcer this season). The funny thing is that all the LSU fans who don't like him actually wanted him to go to Michigan and were hoping Rodriguez would come to LSU.

"Criminoles" at it again!
