The Sirius Radio that I got through SatGuys several years ago died. I called and confirmed that it was DOA. I asked to close my account and get a refund. I thought that I would start-up again in a month or two when I got around to ordering a new radio.

Instead, they offered me a new radio, car kit, boom-box and shipping for FREE! I, of course, took them up on the deal.

I'm kind of confused. Why would you expect to get a refund on a radio that was a few years old. Or was the potntial refund on a partial month of service. So, what kind of unit did you have, and what kind are they sending you?

Stimpson: I had a yearly subscription. I think it renewed recently, so they would have owed me some change.

Noooo, I didn't expect anything on a 3 year old ish radio. The old unit was a JVC that Scott got for Pub members several years ago.

I don't have the replacement receiver and equipment yet. I assume that it is "entry level."

My girfriends radio and mine had been stolen out of our cars recently. I called to deactivate service for a while till we had enough money to buy a couple radios and they ended up giving me 2 free starmate replays. Still a happy quarterly paying customer.

They are definitely hurting to keep customers, we called again for a third time to cancel and they again gave my wife three free months and it looks like if I call and tell them that our radio died that they'll just send us a free unit.

I too got in on that deal, the antenna connections went bad on me and I went to XM... still have the JVC somewhere around here...

I recently cancelled one radio that wasn't needed. It was a hard bargain and they kept calling back to offer a deal. If my unit ever goes out I know how to get one.

I read this post last week and was intrigued. I have a Sportster Replay that my wife bought me for Christmas in 2005 (Right before Howard came on air) I have enjoyed the service and have had no horror stories. Until now. I called and told the cancellation department that my radio was broken and couldn't afford a new radio at this time and asked to cancel my account. This is al true. I am not just lying to get a new radio. I was forwarded to customer relations specialist. I was going to cancel if they didn't offer me the new radio. I was promptly offered a new (refurbished) Sportster 4 with the car kit and a 12 month standard warranty and a free month of service. It came today and I am happy with the condition of the radio. There is one small scratch on the lower left hand corner, but nothing serious at all. I was so excited finally having my radio back! I ran all the wires and plugged in my cassette adapter (the FM transmitter really is junk now, very fuzzy reception with out the FM modulator plugged in) and fired it up. I got the same message that I got with my old Sportster replay..." No attena Detected" I messed around iwth it and finally gave in and called back to tech support. After 15 more minutes I was told he couldn't help me and I should call warranty services to have them send me another radio...and another week with no service. I called and she couldn't do anything until the radio was activated on my account. I couldn't activate due to no reception. I happened to have a Stratus I got free with a $50 subscription card I bought for my dad. He didn't end up wanting it, so I used the card and kept the radio as a standby. I tried that antenna and got a signal. When I pulled that antenna out to put the sportster one back in, I noticed the problem...the antenna connector in the car dock is bad. The gold plug pulled out and remained stuck to the Stratus Antenna. I called back and spoke to cancellation guy again. If I can't get the radio to work I am going to cancel again. He activates the radio and says to callback to warranty servcies tomorrow and have them send me a new radio and car dock since this one is giving me so much trouble. And he gives me two more months of free service for my trouble. I will see where I get tomorrow with warranty service. I agree the wait times are sometimes ridiculous. The first night I called it was like 8:00 PM and I waited 20 minutes to talk to someone and then another 15 to talk to cancellation services. Tonight I waited only about 2 minutes. All in all I am happy with the service and the customer service department. I don't mind waiting as long as they are helpful when they come on.

Thanks for listening. I know I rambled on, but I just thought I ould add my 2 cents.

Wow! I had a Sportster 3 that I got for Christmas in 2006 die on me - something went bad in the power connector on the radio. I called Tech Support on Friday and the rep. tried to get them to replace the unit under warranty since it was only about two months out, but they refused. I ended up buying a new Sportster 5 over the weekend to replace it. I guess I should have argued more.
