4/8/2009 1:10pm - Uplink Activity Report - 93 changes - STILL NOT VIACOM

Anyone notice that KATU - Channel 2 in Portland, OR was added? I wonder if something has been settled with the Fisher Communications?

I got two of my locals in HD last week but they are on the 129 satellite. I cannot get it with my set up. I get 110,119 & 61.5. I called Dish last Saturday to have a service rep come out and get me hooked up to 129. The installer came out Monday while I was at work (fast service). the installer cleaned up a sloppy install from 2 years ago when I added HD and told my wife he had no clear line of sight for the 129 sat. My 2 dishes are located at the SE corner of the house. Is there that much of an angle difference to the 129?? I don't want to have the dish in the front yard.

Can D* get all their channels on one dish in my area??

129W would be a few degrees west of where your D500 for 110/119 is pointed. Do you have trees in that direction or any other obstacle? I could see how the 61.5 could not be repointed as it is likely to the east side of the other D500, but I don't see why the installer couldn't replace both dishes with a single D1000.2 or move the existing dishes unless there's trees or other obstacles in the way.

129 Only?- digiblur

Yep.. Spotbeams all over the US. Click on TheList link in my signature. Click on 129. Then scroll through all the locals. You can sort by columns by clicking on the column header you want to sort by. You'll see all the locals spotbeamed. You can also click on the spotbeam number and it will show the spotbeam map with the channels/transponders allocated to that spotbeam.

Is 129 the only one with map showing spotbeam coverage? I don't see anything over on 61.5...

I see that Indianapolis NBC EPG has been moved. Does that mean Indianapolis HD NBC it will be available soon?

Digi also has them up for 110W. The spots for 61.5 are fairly large. If you just sort by spotbeam you'll get a good idea of the area covered by looking at the DMAs uplinked in those spots. There are some 61.5 maps floating about the innertubes but I don't know how accurate they are.

Laddyboy,

I don't have trees blocking me. If the dish has to be turned a few degrees to the west then maybe the south wall of the house maybe blocking part of the signal??

totally seen that as well, katu.com has a new onlycharliesknows lol. Sadly half the articles are off topic to the issue at hand, just slandering dish, real site should be WTF WHERES MY VIACOM. The other part I laugh about is the simple people that post in the comment things up on katu they don't even understand why dish doesn't want to pay them anymore for a government sponsored service that dish ultimately has to pay more for to have us watching it in our homes. anyway enough with the rant, very intrigue about the katu adding though.

Well, yes, that may be part of the problem, but the installer could have replaced both with a 1000.2 (which should have been done if you're paying for it) or moved the D500 pointed at 61.5 to the other side of the D500 pointed at 110/119. No LOS means no line of sight on the property. I'd be calling to get someone else out there or do it yourself and save a few bucks or an extended commitment. Did you go through E* CSR or call your local retailer? Not all installers/techs are created equal.

Hit um where it hurts..

Used this web site for sometime now for my information about dish and have never posted until now. Maybe we should hit good old Charlie where it hurts. It's about time for payment of this months bill. What would happen if everyone that has HD programming were to short their bill by the amount of the last increase. (was suppose to cover cost of the new channels). Just a thought. My commitment is up the end of this month so I think I might be gone then anyway. "D" has all of these channels plus my local CBS channel that Charlie won't add. I've been waiting and waiting but it is really getting hard.

Nah, Dish is already giving us enough channels for that kind of thread. Have you watched "CBS C HD" and "BET J HD"?

I really don't understand why you folks blame Dish for the content of the HD channels.
After all what is on any channel is not up to Dish it is the channel's call.
If the broadcaster does not supply HD content then this is NOT Dish's fault.
I recall a lot of the members here were screaming for new HD channels and when we got them they complained about the content. I think that some of you would blame Dish if it rained tomorrow
Get over it you don't have to blame Dish for every thing I you don't like Dish that bad just switch to Direct and see if the grass is really greener over there.

Then we would have that amount plus a penalty to pay extra next month.:)

I think you need to read a bit more carefully.

I'm not now blaming, nor have I ever blamed, Dish for the lack of HD content on supposed HD channels, except when they replace one that had a lot of content with one that didn't (e.g. replacing Smithsonian with BET J HD).

I was merely responding to a post that claimed, should the Viacom channels show up, we would all complain about something else; i.e. lack of HD content. My point was that if we were going to complain about that Dish had already supplied us with ample ammunition.

It isn't the channels not coming on line that has me most upset. Like a lot of others, once the "viacoms" hit, I'll be able to go HD only. It's the lack of information from E* that has me ticked off. I mean come on, he sat there and told us 4/1... ok, it didn't happen, so why? If I just bailed on my customers without an explaination, I'd be out of business faster than you could say "Charlie don't care...." Come on Charlie... if you just told us why, or said "sorry folks, we really meant it when we said it, but....." most of us would probably move on, but this keeping us in the dark is uncalled for...

Can't agree more, still waiting for WWMT. Missing HD of March Madness and the Masters gets real old. I can pick it up OTA about 50% of the time.

The spotbeam filings for E12 are not available from the FCC filings nor are the 119 spotbeams. I do know that nelson61 was working on trying to obtain them, but of course that might take an act of congress to get them anytime soon.

Again, let me say how much I appreciate the hard work you and Nelson61 have done to provide these maps. The List is teh awesome.
