NBA 2008-09 Season

I am going to shock a lot of you guys with my NBA Finals pick- not so much my pick to win the East, but my surprising pick in the West:

It'll be the Cavaliers vs.... Denver!

I am turning into a believer into this team; they are equipped to give the Lakers some serious fits.

Besides, if anyone remembers all the LeBron/Carmelo hub from when they debuted, it would make for a delicious matchup.

A Melo v. LeBron matchup dubbed the '03 Draft Class Championship. I like it.

Not a CHANCE in the world!

In fact, these playoffs could turn into the most anticlimatic in history.

The Lakers will have a cake walk to the Finals, and the Cavs should breeze through the East (the ONLY chance the Celtics have is if KG is somewhat healthy......EVEN THEN I don't like their chances).

That being said, the Finals should be E-P-I-C!! :up

And if it is in fact Cavs-Lakers, I'll be the biggest Cavs fan east of Ohio you've ever seen....for several reasons! :D

Yeah, I can't see the Lakers NOT making it to the Finals either. They look dominant as ever! Plus, they beat the Cavs twice in the regular season. If the Cavs make it and we get to play someone else, I'd be thrilled. However, I just don't see that happening.

BTW, a LeBron vs. Kobe matchup would draw WAY more interest than a Melo vs. LeBron matchup.

That would be nice for Mr. Billips, what a nice season the Nuggets had!

My New Favorite Commercial

Did any of you see that new "NBA: Where Amazing Happens" Commercial yet? You know, the one where LeBron executed his "no regard for human life dunk" during the '08 playoffs?? I get chills when watching this! That look on LeBron and him puffing his cheeks after the dunk is scary!

I really like basketball and the NBA but this drives me crazy about the marketing. They make a commercial out of a stupidly named dunk that happened during a series where that players team lost. So what was so amazing? It didn't help them win?

I like the NBA but most of the time I have to ignore their marketing and the Commissioner.

They are pushing Lebron James.....simple as that. They cannot push Kobe becuase of his brush with the law and his dumb back and forth with Shaq. Wade, is nowhere as squeaking clean as people thought....so they are trying to find the next big thing....

The NBA NEVER pushed anyone this young and this early in their career as much they have Lebron....they are SOOOO desperate to fill the shoes of Michael Jordan that they won't let this kid accomplish anything before they brand him "the next....."

Bill and Sky, did you see that elbow to Varajao's groin by Ray Allen? That was not typical Ray Allen behavior. I realize emotions were running high and the two got tangled up, but that was a pretty cheap shot. With this shot and the other cheap close-line by Big Baby in their last game, these two teams are developing quite the dislike for each other. If they are face each other in the playoffs, this series will be VERY intense....

Ray Allen/Varejao Altercation

I didn't look at the attached video, I ended up seeing this on SC. Varajao must have balls of brass. This guy didn't even flinch! Maybe he was wearing an iron chastity belt.

Smart move by the Wiz. I've always liked Flip and thought he got a raw deal by the Pistons. There's a lot of talent on this Wizards team and I expect Flip to get these guys to play to their potential next year.

Flip Saunders, Washington Wizards near coaching deal, accoding to reports - ESPN

No he didn't. He didn't win a championship, plain and simple. He did have the best starting 5 in the NBA. If Larry Brown didn't get all "Larry Brown" on us, we would have won at least 2 more. Flip Saunders was nowhere the coach that Brown was. Saunders may have won everywhere he has been, but he hasn't "won" when it mattered.

He is an amazing player, but you hit it right on the head there, Salsa. He ain't the "King" of sh*t until he wears a ring.

BTW - Cleveland in 5 over the Pistons.

He is THE best player in the world...period. But has done nothing. No MVP, no NBA Championship. Now that ALL might change this year....but until a players does SOMETHING, they should not anoint him as THE man. And as much as I hate to say it....THE man is Kobe....he has rings AND MVPs.(damn that was not easy saying...;))

So you can't appreciate a good play because in the end the team with that player lost the series? Wow. Just wow.

Jeezus! Give the guy a f*n chance! He's only 24! How many Championships did Michael win at that age???

That's the right words. Good play. Not even the best dunk I've ever seen. Way over-blown IMO.

Check it again. LeBron dices his way around Paul Pierce, James Posey and then dunks over Kevin Garnett while receiving a vicious elbow to the bread basket. It was an intense dunk capped off by a very spontaneous call by the anouncer.

As face value it wasn't one of the best dunks I've seen, but with all the emotion wrapped around it, it is right up there. Very deserving of a commercial IMO.
