3 Months free of Showtime and HBO

Glad you all have had luck, I have tried 7 times via online chat and have been told that I had the HBO/Starz promotion in February and wasn't eligible, I have been told that I needed paperless/autopay (which I have both already) and wasn't eligible, was told that I wasn't eligible because I had Showtime already on my account, was told I wasn't eligible because I just got Platinum HD free for 3 months, was told that I haven't been a customer more than 6 months (but I have been a customer for over 5 years)...

so I guess if you have Gold 250 + Gold HD + Platinum HD + Showtime + 1 penny a year MAX deal + paperless + autopay + 5 plus years customer, I guess this makes you NOT ELIGIBLE!

So I guess my question is... has anyone done this via the online chat? or was it only done via phone?
Online I was told YES, then NO, because I already sub to HBO and Showtime. But, since he had already told me YES, he was going to credit my account $20/month. He had to remove those packages, then I became eligible.

Just tried again and I'm on absolute and they say I had to have Bronze or above.

Anyone else with absolute get this?
Yaz did. So keep trying. I got HBO only for 1 month, so that's odd - but at least I got something since I have Absolute HD.

EDIT: 3rd Time is a charm - "Raymond K." hooked me up immediately via online chat. It took less than 2 minutes.

I'll keep trying....hope they don't log the online chats for the next online chat guy to read.
I doubt they do. It totally depends on who you get. I chose the general question section when it worked instead of the programming change link for the online chat.

WOW! On the 14th try, I finally got a CSR online that said they would only allow me 2 months FREE because I had took advantage of other promos earlier and felt that I didn't deserve the full 3 months. WOW!, RUDE!, and yet its been 20 mins. and HBO still isn't turned on.

3 tries and zero results... Told me signed up for HBO/Starz in August 2008 so I can't get it.

I'm done trying...
I signed up for that in Sept 08 and ended it 3 months later. Since it only takes a couple minutes of the online chat, try again. Just do it at a different time of day where the people you have been getting might not be working. Ask for 'Raymond K.' :D

It's cool having TMC-HD. Showtime is just as bad as Starz with the HD bugs but atleast they aren't as pathetic as Starz bright colored bugs, UGHHHHH

Just got off online chat and got 3 months free! I have been with Dish for 12 years and have never asked for a free promo, so that might be the difference.

just tried to add it myself via chat. I just got off the other HBO/Showtime promo about a month ago.

The CSR said:

"I am sorry to inform you that this promotion is not available on your account to be added. We have different promotions on different times. However, I see that you are a wonderful customer of Dish Network and I checked that I can add HBO on your account free for three months as an extended promotion. I will go ahead and process credits on your account for this package.

That's cool. Don't like Showtime much anyway.

I just tried again with my Absolute and got this reply:

"I see that you are signed up for credit card autopay with paperless billing but you do not currently meet programming requirements for HBO/Showtime free for three months.
You must have must have qualified programming: Classic Bronze 100 or higher, DishLATINO Clasico or higher, TurboHD Bronze or higher, or Qualified International programming. "

I guess us Absolutes are just considered "sub-human" for these specials.

I got rejected on the chat as well, because I recently had the HBO/Starz promotion. "Sam" didn't offer me squat, nor would he budge from this position when I quoted him the requirements for current customers from the page linked in the OP. His words at the end:
I'm glad we were able to take care of that for you. Thank you for being a DISH Network customer, have a great day.
Funny, it didn't feel like he took care of that for me.

You are missing the words:

Other restrictions may apply.

Most of you are not thinking about this from the viewpoint of Dish Network, HBO and Showtime. Why would they give the channels for free ?

The idea is to introduce you to the channels and get you to keep them permanently.

So:

- The idea of an automated unsubscription after 3 months is ludicrous.

- The idea of allowing people who currently subscribe to HBO or Showtime to get the promotion, makes no sense at all.

- The idea of allowing people who previously recieved the HBO/Starz promotion to get this one, is laughable.

As far as the Absolute package, Dish Network is probably losing money on those subscribers at this point, so giving them any more freebies is another dubious proposition...

However, it is entirely reasonable to expect CSR incompetence to sometimes fall in your favor... so if you can get a CSR to give you the promotion despite the above, then cool.
