Funny that ONLY 60% are getting it. I wonder why the other 40% are being turned down, unless they dont or wont meet the criteria.

I dont mind setting up the autopays. Everything I get billed for is autopaid from my credit card that rebates me 1.25% cash. That ends up paying me more than $600 a year. Free money. Hell, that almost pays my directv bill. I can always decline a charge if I want to.

Besides, doesnt directv require a credit card or bank account on file to have service?

they require a card on file, but they don't charge it unless you do autopay. not everyone wants their bills charged to their credit card, which is understandable

Yeah, I understand the gut reaction to people automatically charging your card, but not really the logic. Would you not pay the bill anyhow? If theres something wrong with it, how its paid isnt going to materially affect working that out with the company. And if you couldnt work it out and refused to pay, they'd cancel your service, charge it to your card anyhow and perhaps even add an early termination fee to that. Or turn you over to a collection agency and ding your credit if they couldnt charge it somehow.

Those dont seem to be particularly good alternative outcomes. Seems to me that taking a $10 discount per month and getting airline miles or cash back out of what appears to be the inevitable is prudent.

Plus its gosh darn convenient. I can look at my monthly credit card statement and see all of my bills.

Now I'm going to scare the pants off of you guys. I have my credit cards autopaid from my checking account! :)

I did Auto pay for just about everything for the past 2 years, Now I stopped.

I don't like companys with one hand in my pocket.:(

I am wondering how many of those that picked "No Dice" did so because they do not want to set up autopay vs those who were simply denied?

Well since I already had auto pay and paperless statements I was told I could only get 6 months of free hd. I did not argue and figure when that expires I will just call back and try to get another 6 months or see what they will do for me.

JUST GOT IT TOO

I just called and asked about the free hd for 2 years for existing customers. I mentioned that I already had autopay for 5 years and it was that easy to get my 2 years of free hd.

Im already on Autopay, and sent in an email earlier. Once I see that reply, Ill call if I have to.

Really wondering why they did just not restructure fees at the normal time, instead of bringing in this $10 revenue loss after the fact. Weird.

Q. Does this eliminate you from ANY other discounts over the 2 year period ?

It didn't for me. When I called I was given the $10 off for 24 months deal, which I took. I also asked the CSR if it was possible to receive the same $20 off for 6 months deal for Sunday Ticket I received last year. She put me on hold and said I could have the same deal.

I was even given the choice of $10 off for 12 months or $20 off for 6 months. I chose $20 off for 6 months.

So for the next 6 months I am saving $30. I am very happy. I've been with them for several years, and still have the grandfathered Choice Xtra package.

I told the "I heard about free HD for new customers, and why not me?" story to the rep. Got 2 years free HD Access no problem. She just checked that I was on autopay and would stay on autopay. Went totally smoothly.

Just got off the phone.

I was already on autopay, so she added Free HD for 24 months, and it's good as long as I keep autopay. June 2012.

For $10 off a month, no way. I've NEVER had an issue with D* autopay, Dish on the other hand is a different story. I've always been a fan of autopay on D*. They give you plenty of warning, and it's always been accurate.

Problem is, they ALREADY have MY money.
