EURO, Thank you for the reply! What mode do you have it set to under "PROG",
I have it on DC II manual mode.

I for sure see what you mean with the MPG: setting.

It's a great little receiver! With some learning curves :)
I mostly also use manual mode. VCT mode will automatically find the SR and fec when you hit an active signal, like my DSR-4200. But I usually just look up the tuning parameters and enter the info manually. :) In DVB-MPEG mode, it will tune all 4:2:0 and 4:2:2 DVB feeds, both SD and HD- (if you have an HD decoder).

Is there a way to reset these to factory settings?

Every time I put it in VCT Mode it goes to what was previously actived

(G1 tp3 Stars mux ) It sets all the RF stuff to pick it up. then blinks the auth light. Probably meaning no go on authorization .

If there is I don't know. Each time I tune a new mux the new info overwrites the old stuff.

Yes, blinking "Authorization" light means not authorized. If the light is on steady or off, you're good to go
:)

thanks for some of the tips!!!

still puzzled by the hd decoder only displaying the first channel in the mux.

ie on 3920 v on g13, The seting mpg:000053 gets said channel and Hd1000 displays the matching picture (nice too!) but if I edit Mpg to the next MPG of :00064, I get the other channels audio but HD 1000 is still showing :00053's picture.

How does the hd decoder know how how to change the channel?

What I'm I missing here? :confused:

It's doing that because there is only one HD signal on that transponder, so the ASI output continues to stream that signal.
If there is 2 or more HD signals it will change them like the SD channels.
Tip: Change the mode to DC2C and you'll get a different one
...(3 hrs different!;)) If you do that, the display will show "service unavailable" ...just twist the knob to the new MPG number, "Authorize" will light up, and it'll show the new channel! :D

My DTE 7150 doesn't have an ASI output. Just SDTV and 4:2:2 SDI whatever that is. Can I add ASI to it?

@putney
did you notice in the manual the protocol is SNMP? i tried sending basic commands, but got nothing.
can you confirm your unit is getting an IP address? if so what did you use to find it?

@eurosport84
little confused by your post. woundnt he already be in combo mode? also he sees the correct "mpeg number" in the menu.
also does the 3920 mux contain SD equivilants like the 3900 mux?

@photoman76
look under the hood, you may just need to solder on a BNC. if the traces arent there let me know and ill get out the DMM and draw the circuit for you.

Here is a picture of my missing ASI connection. Looks like some chips are missing on the motherboard. I'm not sure if they are related to ASI or not.

Don't know, but on mine "DC2I" mode I get the east feed and "DC2C" I get west. Both muxes contain HD and SD feeds. And I must say, DCII HD masters through this commercial system are awesome!

the biggest missing chip is the network controller
DP83934 - SONIC-T Systems-Oriented Network Interface Controller with Twisted Pair Interface [Obsolete]
(putney's nemesis)

the two smaller ones are in circuit with ASI

plus some caps and resistors(if you want values let me know). need to take the board out to see the underside if you want me to trace the circuit.

it would be a herculean effort, some smd soldering experience would help. plus your firmware may not support it.
my firmware version is 0262-0423-0198-0240

Thanks for the info. It's beyond my capabilities. Probably cheaper to wait for another one to become available with ASI. Everyone is switching to DVB-S2 anyway, so it doesn't make too much sense to invest in it any further.

The above seems a little confused. The 3900 mux has east on DC2I and west on DC2Q (not C). Both contain SD and HD versions.
The 3920 mux is in C mode, and has E/W HD only, no SD.

So it sounds like like the above receiver that labels the 3900 streams as I and C is messed up, because they really can't be I and C on the same mux. It should be I and Q.

The trick of changeing the dc2i to q do not work on the 3920 mux. just to clear that up... but did work on 3900.. (for switching to E and W.) Maybe there is another trick for 3920.... :D

PS: Is there SD on 3900? I did not know that... I didn't even look for it (have to switch AV inputs )

B.J. you are correct, I just checked it again and it is I and Q...not C. Brain-fart on my end! :eek: :D

Another question or two

I wonder for those that have a DSR-4800 reciever - - - how do you have it setup? By this I mean - - are you loop out from another reciever or just using the 4800 by itself.

Any pictures or diagrams would be very helpful.

Also - - - putney - - - any new updates on your experience with this beast?

I'm use my azbox for pointing the dish and H/V polarization. I loop out to the dsr4800

No luck with network or serial control. Haven't had much time lately.
My latest task has been to attempt to download a VCT (MAP). Hard to figure out without detailed documentation. :eek:

No RF lock

Hello Everyone!
I recently added a DSR-4800 to our collection of FTA receivers, have an issue here. No matter what configuration (DVB or DCII) and tuning parameters, cannot get a RF Lock. What seems odd is the SIG level meter indicates two yellow bars even without a LNB connected and never changes. There is power outputting to the LNB about 14v on low and 19v high. BER is max out and the Eb/No is low, signal varies from low to -64db on different satellites / transponders. The status display shows garbage text. Does the unit need to be reset to clear out previous settings? The vendor I purchased the unit from is allowing reasonable amount of time to test it, so trying to determine if the DSR4800 is functioning properly, and hoping it's just me that is the problem..
Thanks for any advice!
Bob
