DSR 410 New packages with SRL

Nice to see, but I really wish they could add a couple network channels for the 410. I'm pulling in c-band FTA, KU FTA, W5 programming w/DSR-410 and trying to keep off of any pizza, but none of these solutions get me any network channels such NBC, FOX, CBS.
I'm starting to think I'll have to pay for pizza just to get some of the programming we like to watch on a couple networks.

jaray
The nets are on G4 99W you know...well most of them (Fox, NBC, CW, ABC in HD) and CBS is on 95W for the national programming...its Pacific time zone but it works :)

Iceberg, I have definitely seen all of those, but have never been able to figure out why some of the shows we like to watch on the networks are never there. Shows like NCIS, Bones, Castle...I have yet to see on them. I assumed all the network channels in the different markets would usually carry the same shows. I know on my pizza I search for one of those programs and it seems to be on piles of different channels.

Don't know about NCIS because I buy east coast feeds off of W3 now, but I watch Castle every week in HD from the VI.

What's disappointing is the lack of new channels not being added to the line up but hopefully that will change with the new contracts. It would be nice if we could get the same programming lineup that Comcast sends out to there cable operators. There's a lot of good channels including Fox News, CNN, DIY that they have on AMC-2 ( per their site) satellite that I'm sure could be moved to W5. If they really want to keep customers and get more to come back then I hope someone is thinking ahead at SkyVision and SRL.

You have to remember that these channels are there for cable companies. They can't just move them, or change their DCII mode to be compatible with 4DTV/W5 units. If they did, every cable company that uses them would have to reconfigure to continue to offer them.

I can't imagine that they would do that to their intended customers (cable companies), just so they could get a cut of our $30 a month consumer subs. BTW, SkyVision & SRL don't have any control over what HITS puts up or where. They just went out & got them to agree to letting us sub to the services that our boxes can get.

The only real chance of getting those channels would be to get a different receiver that does all these modes. Then they would have to work out the details of authorizing them for U.S. subs. I bet that would be a major undertaking.

Cheers

I guess we can disagree on this point because I don't agree with you on this as Comcast has the equipment and money to do whatever they feel will bring in more business as they are also losing customers to the pizza companies and even at 30 dollars you multiply that by say 10,000 that's a good amount of money. Since they already are supplying W5 channels it may not be an issue to them to enhance their lineup. Will they do, who knows as only time will tell, but I sure would like it to happen and then see NPS reaction to it.

...even at 30 dollars you multiply that by say 10,000 that's a good amount of money...

Except that the 30 dollars won't still be 30 dollars by the time SkyVision & SRL take their cuts. When I say "every cable company that uses them would have to reconfigure"... that's a big deal. It's not just about what Comcast would have to do, it's what all the cablecos using them would have to do... and how many of them there are. I can't speak for Comcast. But if I was a betting man, I know which direction I'd bet on.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not rooting against it being worked out. I'd like to see those channels available as much as anyone. It would save me from having to get DirecTv. But someday, I'll almost certainly have to go that route if I want the news channel of my choice.

Cheers

Where is CBS on 95 W.Because I don't have it.I have ABC,NBc on 99w but lost CBS when they became THIS.AND again I say we won't get all the channels because skyvision is to LAZY to make a deal. It's not a question of a new receiver look at showtime and the DMX channels. They have removed them but they ARE COMPATIBLE with our receivers.Right now there are a lot of channels that are on DC2 that they could have gotten a long time ago but they didn't and they will never did.But more channels will dissapear That's what I'm sure off once people do their master resets and sub to W5 more channels will stop letting us sub till the day that they will finally pull the plug and tell everyone to go with dishnetwork.Once again thanks NPS,SKYVISION,AND PROGRAMMING CENTER for ruining C band!!!

Where is CBS on 95 W.
There's two stations that I watch when possible that are out west, one in Idaho (KBOI/KOMO) and Washington (KEPR) both feeds come and go on C-Band on 95W These are the only two I get right now until I get a HD receiver.

Watching KEPR news right now.

Hope this helps.

Ok we get it you think all three 4DTV providers are in cahoots with Dish. Let us speculate and quit saying the sky is falling chicken little. We know its falling!

Shows like NCIS, Bones, Castle...I have yet to see on them. I assumed all the network channels in the different markets would usually carry the same shows. I know on my pizza I search for one of those programs and it seems to be on piles of different channels.

A bunch of that stuff is available OTA in "pure" HD. Some is on ION TV OTA and others are on Fox OTA, at least they are available to me here where I live.

I put up a $35 digital antenna and got one of the digital converter boxes thru the Gubmit program and never looked back. I watch OTA about 25% of the time now and the pic quality is better than any dish I've ever seen.

ok I'll try to to a scan on 95 w later to see if I find them because right now my daughter is wathcing. There used to be a CBS from Yakima also but I only watched it once and after that everytime I tuned in I saw only test patterns

And I already have OTA but I have it in the bedrooms only I can't have 1 more cable going from the ANTENNA to the livin room tv because if I split it to only 1 more tv I'll lose some channels.Even now the antenna struglles to get some channels in the bedrooms a lot of times they black out every 5 minutes or so.

I'm not sure I agree either, so do the cable companies get SiFi, Sluth, Fox Movie, BBC America, and the others from W5, or are the channels on W5 there for the users like us C band guys?
I was under the impression that they where available from other sources through Comcast for the cable companies, if this is true then Comcast could uplink any channel to W5 that they wanted to, and still have them available to the cable companies.

The reason W5 is there is for the cable companies. We tag along for the ride just like we did all those years with the masters. Very few channels were ever put up there just for us. Comcast can put anything they want up there most cable channels are on the 3 Comcast HITS birds. The other birds are in combo mode which the 4D can't get. If the 924 came out back when GI was thinking of it that was suppose to do combo. If that did happen I bet we could get all the cable channels from HITS as a subscription. Unfortunately that didn't so we are at Comcast's mercy to allow us the ones the 4D will do. Can Comcast turn around channels for us on W5? yes, will they? doubtful.
