2010-2011 College Bowl Season

What was up with the field last night? Players were slipping all over the place. The game had plenty of drama, but considering how high octane the offenses are, it never really got going. The field may have had something to do with it. The layoff too, but that's been overcome in other NCG games.

Seemed like most of the game was...sluggish.

To me, it seemed that way too. In the early going, I thought the new sod that had been laid was loose and was causing the backs to slip all over the place. Told the wife that they would change cleats at half-time, if not before, and the slipping would hopefully stop. They either didn't or the sod was too loose to get a grip on as it seemed the longer the game went on, the more the players slipped, offense and defense.

Based on what I saw, I would recommend that the entire field there should never be switched out entirely again so close to a game or just never hold the NC game there again. Something was definitely wrong with that field and if they can't fix it, so be it.

It was a good game, in all, and looked like the right teams were playing in the game, more matched than when some teams (not gonna say tOSU) in prior years were blown out. :)

Congrats to the team from LA, Lower Alabama, that is.

you mean the bowl season is finally over??

Maybe Disney/ABC/ESPN can add more bowls next season to the lineup, for folks who want them to go on year-round? :D

BTW, the ratings were down about 12% for the NC game. Folks experiencing overload, perhaps?

"Auburn’s 22-19 victory over Oregon on Monday night in the B.C.S. title game was seen by an average 27.3 million viewers, down nearly 12 percent from last year’s game, in which Alabama routed Texas. "

What I posted on facebook as my SEC predictions for next season.

Think I am close?

LSU should be favored to win the West and the SEC. If they do not win, Les will have seconds thoughts on not taking the Michigan job.

This is a direct result of the game moving from broadcast to cable for the first time ever.

sure. Maybe they'll give TCF Bank Stadium a bowl game....the "I froze my ass to the toilet bowl" between Minnesota and another team that won 3 or 4 games :D

Can't happen...teams below .500 are not allowed into the college football post season. What do you think this is...the NFL? ;)

If LSU loses the west, either Alabama lived up to their potential or Les will have screwed up somewhere in his coaching, again. He did the right thing taking the LSU job over Michigan. Unlike the old days, LSU is a better job today, and from what I hear they not only extended his $3.75 mill annual pay through the year 2117, but also sweetened it with some pretty nice incentive bonuses.

Why should they , I coulds see if the # 2 team had won the game, but the number 1 team won.

Heres where a 8 team playoff would be nice.

I agree. Even though my team won.
Why not have a playoff AND the bowls.
It would not take away from the bowls as they have become useful for only the teams that play in them.

If they come up with something like an 8 game playoff, they have to control strength of schedule so that a team does not make it into the top 8 without playing a representative schedule. Would not be fair.

If they have an 8 game playoff, 3-5 of the teams may be from the SEC.

I'm all for a Playoff, as long as it's at LEAST 8 teams .... thats a good place to start anyways.
Less than that (1 as your mentioning) would NOT be good in my opinion. What about the othehr 1 loss teams, some cases numbers 3-8 have only one loss.

Mark Cuban talked with both teams about just that, since the MNC game, the NCAA won't ALLOW it...

and just why would they allow it? It would infringe on their monopoly and knowing him, he may even be in for busting up the lock that Disney has on the bowls. :D I don't really think he is one who would care if he pisses off the cartels of college sports (NCAA and Bc$, and their bedfellow, Disney.)

Cuban is an idiot. Even though I want a playoff, I want Cuban to stay away from this.
Heard him on the Dan Patrick show saying his Dirk Nowitzki is a better player than Larry Bird.
