DISH / Blockbuster Announcement Discussion Thread!

I am a current bb customer with 2 out at a time. I have the ability to set up 2 queues, ie one for me and one for kids, and when my movie is returned they sent the next on my list and the same with the kids list, so I am assuming this won't change when they implement the new system and that you should be able to have one list for movies and one list for games, so when you returned a movie you would get your next movie mailed to you, and likewise, when you return a game the next game on your list would be mailed to you.

How did you set this up? I seen no option on the BB web site for setting up multiple queues and as I posted above, BB reply to may email stated this was not an option at this time. Understand, I'm not "calling you out" just interested in how you were able to do this...what settings or options did you have to click on to set up 2 queues?
Thanks,
Ghpr13:confused:

Has it been made officle we will be able to link them
Haha ! Is ANY of this "official" ? Saying things during a press conference and what shows up in reality are two different things. I, like everyone else, is speculating on MOST of this.

Maybe you WON'T be able to link them.

I queried a Dish Rep who posts here......did not even get the courtesy of a reply...............

Netflix announced a deal with Dreamworks to stream their specials and movies, estimated to be worth $30mil per movie to Dreamworks. Do you really think Dish will ever spend that kind of money for content? This is actually a pretty big deal... Dreamworks went with Netflix instead of a less lucrative agreement with HBO.

Amazon announced a deal with 20th Century Fox today, bumping their streaming service to 11k movies and TV shows once it's rolled out and will have more than doubled the amount of content since the beginning of the year.

From what I know as of October 1st it may not be possible to link your account with an already existing Blockbuster By Mail account. But it might be possible later in the future.

Most of the deals that studios have with the premium cable channels are up in 2012/2013, that is why most of the deals that Netflix signs for content are only 2 years in length, the deals they signed in 2010 are done in 2012, 2011 up in 2013, makes you want to say hmmm.

The deal that Amazon signed is for non-exclusive programing as all the same shows and movies are on Netflix, the same thing goes for the Star Trek shows as they are on both Netflix and Amazon.

Netflix users are still waiting on Deep Space Nine for some reason, during that wait Amazon suddenly got all Star Trek series.

To me, this seems more like a "qwikster killer".

Netflix is going to split my DVD ( 1 at a time ) queue off to "qwikster" and charge me $7.99 for "Netflix" and $9.99 for "Qwikster".

Since I am already subscribed to platinum with Dish, I can just drop the "Qwikster" and get my DVDs from Blockbuster.

So I end up paying $10 less a month ( since I was already subscribed ) and keep "Netflix" streaming.

Biggest mistake Netflix is making is forcing separate queues. I might have stayed for convienence sake.

Am I wrong / missing something?

I've had every single DS9 disc from every season from Netflix. In fact, I finished up the last one in early July of last year. I just checked & they still show in their library. Do they show a wait if you add them to your queue?

Cheers

The poster was stating that for some unknown reason, DS9 is not available for streaming via Netflix.

I have AT250 and top HD package, whatever that is called. How is this going to effect me and my bill and channel availability?

Yeah... it was announced ST was coming to Netflix... then months pass "all but DS9 coming in the next month... and DS9 coming in October!"

...Amazon then quietly got them all at the same time, Netflix users are still waiting for it.

Kinda OT, not worth going into too much until we see what BB is actually offering via streaming and then it becomes much more relevant. Given their history of disputes it will be interesting to see DISH operating in a landscape of regularly renegotiating content offerings.
