Do you know what the update is for? Is it just to update the blocking for jb devices?
Don't know. I just know I tried it to see if it will still work with the Cydia plug in and it does. I do not notice anything new with this update

I did the update on my iPad and left the other version in iTunes. If I could not get the update to work I would just delete it from my iPad and reinstall the older version from iTunes

Got this from Directv today:

Forced iPad App update coming today.

Fixed the mute button issues locking screen rotation.

Part of this forced update is that those that have implemented a work around for jail-broken devices, will find that their iPad app will no longer work.

Our position remains that the app does not support jail-broken devices.

So there it is, as anyone should expect, they are going to work to prevent jailbroken devices.

It didn't work. With the update I was still able to get around their attempt to block my device

Why do they care so much?

I am sure t he programmers are hammering them about it.

Without the programmers blessing then there is no live streaming on the DIRECTV app.

What do you mean forced update? What if one never goes into the app store and clicks the update section?

I was just watching American chopper on the ipad last night after taking a nice long relaxing dump . :)

Netflix and HBOGo both run on Jailbroken devices. There's a heck of a lot more content on those as well compared to a handful of useful channels.

At least my favorite channels are on the DirecTV for iPad. Makes trips to the John more enjoyable at least. Yay for Discovery, Science, TLC, FX, HGTV.

All I know is that I voluntarily updated the APP and it still works with the Cydia patch. What every it is they were trying to do to block access on JB devices did not work.

They should come out with anti-jailbreak detection patch to mobilesubstrate or some other lower level running process that effectively intercepts jailbreak detection routines and makes apps think that the device is unmodified.

With more and more of these types of jailbreak detection, sooner or later the whole iOS will be made to not boot if it's detected a jailbreak. Maybe IOS 6 or who knows... could be sooner like IOS 5.1, 5.2, 5.5, etc...

Anti-Jailbreak Detection could in one fell swoop fix DirecTV for iPad, Nomad, Cablevision, Time Warner, Brighthouse and whatever other restricted apps are out there.

I bet sooner or later HBOGo and Netflix will add Jailbreak detection.

Can you CONFIRM your DirecTV for iPad version number? Some people on mod my I are saying it's no longer working.

They are wrong. Don't know why they are saying that. Fresh screen captures. You can even check what is currently playing to see that this was just done.

Includes info from my iTunes as well as proof that my iPad is JB

Ok got it to work. Wonder why the patch installs winterboard?

it works here as well. and theres no choice but to update since the app no longer works unless you do. seems like they're gonna make it difficult. hope the hackers can keep up.

The latest update just came out and the patches no longer work for jailbroken devices. If you want to keep using the iPad APP, then do not update the APP at this time.
