Can not pick up Ku Band with DMX741U
Your browser does not support iframes.

Hello again every one,
It's been a while,... and I'm desperately need your help again...

I've set up a new system which consist of a 2.3m mesh dish, a Gbox DiSEqc1.2 positioner, Openbox S9 HD receiver, and a DMX741U. There are several satellites I want to tune to, but for now I'm targetting Vinasat1.
The only frequency I could pick up is C-band 3413V(9766). Im trying to pick up the below C and Ku bands also :

3433V (14800) - C band

10968H (28800)
- Ku Band
11090H (28125) - Ku Band
11116H (6665) - Ku Band
11549H (28800) - Ku Band

No luck at all at the moment, I can sometimes pickup 3433V, it's on and off, But absolutely nothing for the Ku Band.

Please help to pick up the Ku bands. I've try lots of things, by skewing the LNB. Tried to create a seperate SAT in OpenboxS9 just for the Ku Freq and set the LNB-freq to 10600(10750), tried setting the motor type to DiSEqC1.2/USALS, turned the 22K switch on but still can not pick up any Ku band.
I've also added the transponders manually for these Ku band in the OpenboxS9, did a scan and still no luck, did a blind scan also, but only picked up the C-band chanels.

DMX741U seems to pick up C-band ok, but not Ku-band, I've connected the LNB correctly as per the instuction, is there anything I have to set up in OpenboxS9 ? any help is greatly appreciated..

thanks again....

Well I have never used that LNB or an OpenBox, but try and hook up just the KU part of that LNB, the connector on the end. Set your LNB settings for the Universal KU, 9750/10600, and see if the KU part works. There may be a problem with the internal DiSEqC 1.0 switch inside.

Hi Guys for all the reponse....

I've tried setting it as Carlospr43 suggested by creating two SATs, and below is the setting for Ku bands and setup the settings as Carlospr43 mentioned, butstill no signals for these transponders:

10968H (28800)
- Ku Band
11090H (28125) - Ku Band
11116H (6665) - Ku Band
11549H (28800) - Ku Band

I noticed that the 22k is automatically set to AUTO (and disabled) when LNB Freq is set to "Universal(9750/10600)"...

when I did a blind scan on this new satellite settings, it picks up transponder 12338H (9766), which is the same as 3413V (9766) - C band but not the others preset Ku transponders (as mention above)

Thanks again for you help..

You have been receiving incorrect programming information. The correct setting for a DMX741u is:

C-band
Switch: DiSEqC Port 1 / 22KHz OFF
LNB: Standard
LO: 5150

KU-band
Switch: DiSEqC Port 2 / 22KHz AUTO
LNB: Universal
LO: 9750 / 10600

Best regards,

Hungster.

why are your diseqc settings disabled?

you need to use the diseqc settings to select c-band or ku-band....

keep lnb setting at universal 9750/10600 and select port one or two on diseqc 1.0 (im not sure which is c or ku on that LNB) but it will be one or the other

This setting works best for me,c-band diseqc 1 and ku on 2. I don't use the built in lnb switch, I use a 4 port diseqc instead.2012-04-07_17-04-06_719.jpg

741U uses DISEQC switching for band selection. Port(LNB) 1 selected for C band. Port (LNB) 2 for Ku. Normal programming is: LNB Universal. 9750/10600 LO and auto 22khz* to enable low band and hi band KU.
or LNB Standard, LO of 9750 and 22k off to disable hi band reception, receive lo band only.
or LNB Standard, LO of 10600 and 22khz on to disable lo band and receive hi band ku only.
*Many FTA boxes will automatically select auto 22khz when universal LNB is selected.
Since Lyngsat shows no hi band ku (11.7-12.2) I would use the setting italicized above.
But, could it be you're too far out of the Ku footprint? Vinasat 1 - SatBeams
Can you confirm Ku reception in your area by someone else?
Lyngsat shows 3413V(9766) as DVB-s and 3433V (14800) being DVB-S2, so that one is going to require more signal. Tweak the tracking and feed for the most you can get out of it.
FWIW: I believe you can adjust the dual band LNBF for max on one band, with some degradation on the other. Don't think it will be maxed out on both at the same time.
Good luck, and let us know what you find.

Thanks FatAir, really appreciate yours and everyone's helps...

I'm in Australia so I think i'm in the Vinasat's foot print. I'm a setting it up with your instruction:
"741U uses DISEQC switching for band selection. Port(LNB) 1 selected for C band. Port (LNB) 2 for Ku. Normal programming is: LNB Universal. 9750/10600 LO and auto 22khz* to enable low band and hi band KU."
But still no luck. Not sure what I'm missing, been pulling my hair out :-(
I'm still trying to find someone in the area to double check if they can receive ku band.... but so far been driving around and could not see any house with a satellite dish..

It's got to be somthing that I'm missing, but I can't work it out ... I've been sitting on the roof for the last 4 hours adjusting it and skewing it ... but still no cigar. The neighbours think I'm spying on them..:)

Help please.....

Another question first. Have you been able to get Ku on any bird? Maybe going after a "sure thing", first, will allow peaking Ku reception /verify ku works.
Second: I don't mean to chase you away, but maybe trying a different frequency/SR? I found here: Vinsat Ku 132e Reported reception in Thailand. Didn't see any reports from Australia though. May be a forum where confirmation of reception in your area can be had.
>> neighbours think I'm spying on them. << LOL! - same here with the one 1.2mtr dish (sideways) at 6° elevation.

Hi FaTAir,

Could not get any Ku on any bird, seems like the switch is not switching between C and Ku band....
Thanks for the link, but I think those freq are not available any more ?

Will keep trying, I hope they didn't send me a dodgy LNB...

I'm trying to get these channels from Vinasat1

thanks again

I made the mistake of buying the DMX-741 "U" model instead of the "S" model when I got my first LNBF and I had trouble with it as well but my problem was mostly TP #s that didn't match anything that others were getting. Not sure that the "U" model is a disadvantage or not there in "Oz" as from what I found out, they were designed for use in Europe. Mine didn't work as well as the "S" model I have now up here in the USA.

Thanks Gunnman, for the heads up....
I'm having doubt now that my DMX741U would work with Ku band ... but will try connecting directly to the Ku LNB port this wkend as Lak7 suggested...
The problems is I only have one cable coaxial cable running in the wall from the ground flour right up to the roof of the second floor when we built the house, would be hard to run another one.. but will try to see if we can pick up Ku band at all...
