The Big East loses it's BCS AQ status. I see Boise St. backing out shortly. No gain by being in the Big East over the Mountain West, except higher travel costs.
NDs move away from the Big East to the ACC is starting to make more sense.

I would leave too. They are falling apart fast.
I'm sure lousiville is already on the phone with the Big 12. They made no secret that they wanted the invite that West Virginia got.

Big 12 will probably invite them soon, along with another team (Cincinnati?) to get back to 12 teams and put a Championship game into Jerry World.

Would not surprise me at all.

Both Louisville and Cincy could benefit by joining a conference like the Big12. They are both programs that are having some success, and recruiting would pick up if they were part of a conference that gets more national exposure. I like the idea.

Louisville has been on the phone with the Big 12 for several months. Big 12 doesn't have to go to 12 to have a conference championship game. League is still debating on how much the lack of a Championship Game is going to hurt them. If K-State gets screwed this year like OSU last year, for not having that extra game, then the pressure will mount to expand. Whether that is 11,12 or more is up in the air.

Actually, they do. That is part of the rules. Must have at least 12 teams with two divisions, and the teams must play every other team in their division.

17.9.1.2 (c) Twelve-Member Conference Championship Game. [FBS/FCS] A conference championship game between division champions of a member conference of 12 or more institutions that is divided into two divisions (of six or more institutions each), each of which conducts round-robin, regular-season competition among the members of that division;

Yes, but those rules are flexible. Everything I've been told, Big 12 is pretty confident they will be allowed to go with 11, if it comes to that. Louisville is getting pretty antsy, but most believe once the 4 team playoff starts, CCG is not going to be as important.

No CCGs would greater lead to the possibility of two teams from the same conference in the NCG. People don't like that shite...remember?

That is still a possibility either way they go. If a higher ranked team loses a CCG a 2nd team from another conference could slip into their spot.

I would prefer they stay at 10 or just go 11 and have 10 conference games.

If they don't add more teams they need to drop the Big12 name though.Big 10 needs to change their name too.

Only if it means we get the Big 10 Network too. :D

Too much branding in the names. I don't think either conference will change their names now no matter how many schools are in the conference. I was really surprised the Pac changed to the Pac 12.

ACC was confident too, until the NCAA said no.

NCAA denies ACC a title game

RALEIGH, N.C. - An NCAA panel has denied an Atlantic Coast Conference request to hold a football championship game as early as next season, a league official said Thursday.

The decision is not formal or binding, but it leaves the chances of playing the game in jeopardy. That could lead to a renewed push to add a 12th league member to meet the NCAA minimum requirement for holding a lucrative title game.

Virginia Tech and Miami have agreed to join the ACC next year, expanding the league to 11 teams. Initial plans were to include Boston College and Syracuse instead of Virginia Tech, which would have given the ACC 12 schools.

The ACC has proposed reducing the minimum number of teams needed for a league championship game to 10.

The issue was discussed last week by the NCAA Division I Championships/Competitions Cabinet in Indianapolis, first at the subcommittee level, then by the Division I-A members of the cabinet.

The cabinet's recommendation to not allow the game will be forwarded to the NCAA's Management Council, a 49-member group with representatives from all Division I conferences.

The council probably would decide next year whether to recommend the change to the NCAA's board of directors. A majority of the board's 18 members must back it for approval.

It's Big Ten and not Big 10, which is similar to our getting ten whacks from Sister Sylvester as punishment for serious disobedience in class. You may receive five, you receive 7, you may get 12...ten was merely a reference point. ;)

Yea but its confusing lol.Big Ten or Big 10 either way they have more than 10 big colleges.Big 12,Big Twelve has less than 12 colleges so it would be much less confusing to rename them. They have done quite well with all the new team logos and jerseys, looks like they could also do well with changing conference names and logos etc.

Like was mentioned earlier, if you do that then everyone has to change thier names ...
