You're making it too easy.

1- Jordan was part owner of e Wizards...why would he go back to be Bulls?
2- How old was the mailman when he joined L.A? Yeah it didn't exactly help them vs Detroit.
3- Phillly sucked, along with those horrible uniforms that looked like it was designed by a 5 year old with crayons. Sir Charles went to Phoenix and was the man, and didn't ride shotgun to anyone.
4- Grant was a good player...but no where near a difference maker.
5- The Lakers were a great team...built through the draft and some signings. Scott, magic, worthy, jabbar didn't wake up one morning and say " hey let's all move to L.A ".
6- Even as a free agent prior to his second retirement...Jordan would have never left the bulls. It was his team, his city and he was the face of the NBA.

Let's do this.

1. First of all, he owner a small part of the team, but had to give up ANY ownership...to play. You are PARTIALLY correct.

2. Never said it was successful, I said he it did it to win championships. He could have easily stayed, but wanted to team up with in LA with Kobe and Shaq.. hmmm, sounds like he wanted to pull a LeBron BEFORE LeBron pulled a Lebron.

3. Sir Charles final year DEMANDED a trade because he thought the team sucked, which they...obviously didn't stick around to allow the team to help build around him, so he got what he wanted and didn't 'man up' to win it on his own.

4. They don't win without Grant. PERIOD. Just like they would not win without Pippen. The second Threepeat, they had Rodman and a host of very capable player.

5. The Lakers were a great team. They all were smart in not allowing ANY of their players get a chance of free agency. Bet you didn't know Magic was signed to a 25 year $25 million dollar contract to basically cement him as a Laker forever? Basically killing any free agent chance. Then, when he was getting close to end of that contract...he signed a "Larry Bird exception" to finish his carrer. PURE GENIUS by Buss to avoid free agency all together. Than man KNEW what his value in the open market would be before free agency.

I was part of the network that covered this team as well as the Blackhawks and White Sox. I know what went on with this team in the 90s. ....believe me.

Jordan took less $$ till his last 2 years. so others could be paid. under the cheap owner. blah blah blah

but this is different in many ways. but you must admit this is unprecedented. no

best looking ref ever ?

watched the Knicks game it was good, but Lauren Holtkamp was better to watch.
even Clyde the glide noted her......... better to watch..
best looking ref ever ?

Jordan was a man of his word and he was the type that said if his contract was for X amount of money, he would live by it and not complain. THAT was unprecedented.

I have a feeling we're going to be arguing this 'til the cows come home :popcorn

1- I wasnt aware Jordan gave up his part of the team to join the Wizards. From my understanding, The Chicago owner J.R was one cheap mother *you dont blow up a team that just won 3 championships*
2- You can't seriously compare the Malone situation to Miami? Malone was 40 and way past his prime, Stockton retired and, yes, he did join the Lakers for a chance
at a championship, but what was he, the 4th offensive option? Bosh, Lebron went to Miami, yet to peak and they knew way ahead of time what they all wanted to do... Dunno how Riley pulled that s*** off... wait, I do!
3- Horace ain't no Pippen. To say the Bulls wouldnt win 3 championships without #54? I rather say the Bulls dont win 6 without #23. If Grant wasnt in Chicago, they would have found someone else to play the 4.
4- Of course Barkley left Philly because they sucked but he didnt join a team full of potential hall of famers/all-stars. As for maning up.. weren't the 93 NBA finals a lot closer than it was?
5- As for Magic's contract.... gimme a break man, I was 10 years old during those days. However, a 25 year contract..wasnt that an agreement violation?

Cheers, K

The end of the Jordan saga was bizarre. Jordan had an unenforceable "gentlemen's agreement" to eventually own or co-own the Wizards. He wasn't playing just for $1 million a year. He was playing to enhance the value of the franchise. The price he expected to pay for his share after re-retiring was like the price that George Bush paid when he entered baseball and oil speculation ventures. Jordan was mortified when Abe Pollin called him into his office and said he didn't need him anymore.

Jordan was a customer of mine when he lived at The Residences at the Ritz Carlton. According to reports, he drove off in his Mercedes into the sunset the very day he got dumped, and left it to his "personal assistants" to clear out the condo.

Unprecedented? There was no player before Jordan who played out his contract without complaining???

In fairness to Jordan, I don't think he demanded that his contractual annual payments of $30,140,000 for 1996-1997 or $33,140,000 for 1997-1998 be increased.

Oh boy..

1. You cannot own any part of a team in the NBA and play as well. Not sure about the other leagues, but I would not be surprised if the same rules applied.

2. Not comparing the Malone situation. You stated CLEARLY that Malone stuck around to 'win it on his own'. Clearly he did not and you admitted it as well in your above post.

3. When Horace was in Chicago, he did a lot of the dirty work Michael nor Scotty nor even Cartwright wanted no part of. Watch them for all 3 years every night...or ask any fan that went through those years leading up to the first 3-peat, they will tell you the same. Watching the occasional highlights on ESPN does not cover the importance of Grant.

And obviously they don't without Jordan, see the two years between the 3-peat.

4. Why didn't he stay, the 76ers finished the season 12 games under .500 with 35-47 record, something that could have be quickly fixed. You know why he made himself not worth keeping with all the off court crap like spitting on fans so he force a trade. He went to a damn good Phoenix team that ended up with a 62 win season, best in the NBA. He could not stay in Philly and win on his own?

5. Again, YOU brought up Magic, not I. And no, the contract was not illegal.

And going back to a comment you mentioned, the one about Lebron never being able to be Michael...that is true, BUT Lebron is in his prime...but before you cast that 'definite' about how good he can't be as compared to Jordan... let's see what happens when Lebron retires... just for $h!7$ and giggles. ;-)

Am about to classify you as stuborn as I am!

1- Mario Lemieux, for example, was both owner and player. Didnt remember/know MJ giving up his control of the Wiz.
2- Malone in his prime wouldnt have checked out of Utah.. that era of basketball was different then the "gimme gimme gimme" generation of today.
3- Am not diminishing what Grant did. Am saying is if he wasnt there, there were other "plumbers" in the NBA that could do the dirty jobs. Saying they cant with with GRANT is a stretch.
4- I dont know nor care why Sir Charles left Philly... Him going to Phoenix is a different situation than Bosh and MeBron signing with Miami.
5- Not sure why we're arguing Magic's contract but i'll let you win that one because I give up. :D

Cheers, K

How Joe Dumars continues to have a job is beyond me tonight he got to see a true Point guard play. One he passed over, nice game Trey Burke!

The Bulls of the first three-peat paid their dues from Doug Collins to Phil Jackson..Grant & Pippen were drafted together.

Moves before the second three-peat were for who, Rodman and Harper? The bench had some time together.

Toronto, Phoenix :wtf:
these guys just pass out jerseys and play .500 or 7+ over. :wtf:

Toronto seemed to be tanking........... and now this ?
Phoenix......Phoenix
if you are a GM at: Sacramento, Utah, New Orleans, Orlando, Charlotte, Milwaukee, Cleveland, Detroit, Philadelphia what in the sam heck are you doing ?

enough to make me :river:censored::facepalm

I'm so bored I'm not even watching NBA games. I'm like the Heat right now, don't give a damn :D
