Apple Live Event: iPhone 6, Apple Watch

I had warned my son about upgrading his 4s to iOS 8, but he went ahead and did it anyway. Now he's seeing some delays in some of his operations, but he downloaded the SwipeFree keyboard app to try out. I have the update waiting on my Mac, but I haven't gone ahead with it yet. Still waiting to see the "I shouldn't have updated" articles.

I'm not using a 4S but everything is running smoothly on my iPhone 5 and iPad 4 with iOS 8. I haven't noticed any incompatible apps or crashing. The only hitch I have seen so far is that Safari doesn't feel as good on my iPad. It's not broken but they have changed things a little bit. The main thing is that I can no longer just hit the X in the top right to close a web page. I have to hit the button that brings up the multi-window view first even if I am only using 1 Safari window. I'm sure I'll get used to it eventually.

Also when I do this it pops open my bookmarks along the left side of the screen and there is a slight hitch every time it does this. That didn't happen with Safari on iOS 7 for me. Everything else feels pretty much the same. My apps don't feel any faster or slower and everything I have used so far still works in iOS 8.

OK I am glad I did not get the 128GB version! I have about 45GB downloading. It looks to take about 2 hours (50Mb/sec internet). I probably should have gone the itunes backup restore route.

I've made a similar mistake: initiated a full backup to iCloud from my old phone. Now I have to wait 2 hours for that to finish...
Though I haven't used iTunes in years. Don't even have it installed any more.

Just got it in my hands. I really like the size and its new design! Love the curved sides and the curved glass edges!

The camera lens protrudes a little, but that's not a big deal, especially if you are going to use a case anyway.
The leather case fits like a glove!

There is no sim card inside the box, but it has my name and number printed on the label, so I assume the sim card is already inside the phone?

Activation was pretty straightforward and didn't take much time at all. The phone works!
It will take some time for all my apps to load though.

It is taking me some effort to get used to... It is big. But, at least not 6+ big. I am getting the hang of how to hold it to operate one handed.

Looks like I can upgrade from the Note 3 to the iPhone 6+ if I make a $178 payment on it to bring it to half paid for under the edge program.

I bet it will be at least a month to two before I can find one though.
