New Model Release: OS MIO+ 4K S2X + S2

If you aren't concerned about blind scan accuracy, I've got cases of Mio+ STBs to sell today...

Unknown when this will be resolved as this is an issue that the tuner manufacturer is working on.

For users running openatv 6.3 and 6.2 with Linux kernel 5.3.0 i've been working with a dev with the fix that he's diligently tweaking.
He's compiled it for both the mio4k and 4k+. It's not out for general release yet or to be incorporated in images. But it works. On 105W I was able to blindscan and pick up 3128 channels with the latest 6.3. I think the hold up is possible dupes being picked up and lower sr issues. But I haven't seen any. For users who can use the terrestrial/cable tuner he has that working too. But (bummer and for reasons I cannot fathom) "over here" that tuner is just an unused jack in the back. I'll check and see if he will allow me to post the link.
For reference we started at version 1 and are now up to ver. 10.

I have one and would of been perfectly happy with it if they could of made it blind scan. Bought it being told by the distributor that blind scan was in progress and would come through a firmware update only to find out later that the particular chipset involved couldn't do BS. They came up with a workaround by trying all sorts of various frequencies and symbol rates but it took forever and wasn't the same.

And I'm perfectly happy with my Octagon SF8008 except that it can't handle the aac audio channels. So had to end up buying 3-4K receivers [when I get the mio] that can do everything that I want in one box.
 
Unfortunately, this OpenATV development on kernel 5.3 is experiencing the same problem as with all images. It cannot not perform low SR signal locks and unable to resolve 4MHz spacing on services such as Weigel Broascasting services on SES1.
 
I know from experience that it is rarely possible to predict when software will be ready for release. As a self-employed software developer, customers often ask me 'When is it going to done?'. The only accurate answer to that question is usually 'I don't know'.

You simply don't know when you are going to find the solution. But, trust me, you are very happy when you do! Its what makes programming so rewarding.

In this situation with Linux 5.3 and the Mio+, I am very pleased to know that they are working until they get it right.

I spoke with you yesterday Brian all excited that you were offering the Mio+ 4K. I was ready to get you to expedite one out. I'm pleased that you openly and honestly told me that there were still some bugs that needed to be worked out. Very cool!
Once I went to blindscan SES 1 sure enough it didn't pick up (at least) the lower two 4mHz spaced tp's. A manual scan did though. So that was a relief.
I have the time to try an older kernel version of openatv on my Mio 4k, but in your findings is this issue a kernel or a receiver or blindscan deal?
I can read and read until I'm blind. It was cool to find out from you the second tuner limitation. Will we get more, the same, or very limited enhancements with the new Mio?
Or pretty much a fancy display? It may be hard to give a comparison of the 2 receivers. But a brief one would be cool. Might save a ton of phone calls.
For those who are running the 5.3.0 kernel, here are blindscan files to try if your image doesn't work for both receivers. Still in dev phase. 105W returned 3128 channels.
Download, unzip, and ftp to the correct directory: /lib/modules/5.3.0/extra
Permissions already set. Reboot the box and try.
Input on how it works for you is invited.

I have many cases of the OS Mio+ STBs in stock that I would love to sell... when they perform as well as the OS Mio 4K.

The Mio is an awesome receiver and the new TNAP v.2 based on the new kernel brings the Mio and Mio+ up to the same if not better performance of the original TNAP image.

We are close to release of TNAP v.2!

Personally, while the Mio+ is turning out to be a great STB, I will be staying with the Mio model as my daily driver. I have limited use for a 2nd DVBS2 tuner and the OLED doesn't add to my satellite viewing experience.

It comes down to offering another choice of function, which might be important to an individual's satellite experience. The 2nd DVBS2 tuner of the Mio+ will be nice for the DVR user who wishes to watch live programming while recording from a different transponder or satellite. The OLED is eye candy. :)
 
Have been testing the new TNAP v.2 image and it is performing very well. Excellent blind scan and service logging functions. It will be up to El Bandidio to release TNAP v.2 for the Mio+ when he feels confident that it is ready.

Salivating here. Looking forward to ordering this box.
 
I hate to see drool streaming off of your chin... Order one and I'll load a beta version of TNAP-2.

You got it. How do I go about it? Order it from your website and mention my handle? Never hurts to have a few beta testers as well.

I called Brian last night and the Mio+ is on the way. Apparently most of the buggies have been worked out of the new Tnap image. Looking forward to it as well as having a one receiver solution again and I’ll certainly be back on the thread with my review.

Sorry if this has already been asked and answered. I'm sure the OLED displays lots of good info for the European crowd but what can FTA hobbyists here in the USA expect to see displayed on it. Thanks! :)
