Oh, I have no problem with him leaving, thats his call ... however, I can also see him coming back if the Big Ten changes thier mind THIS WEEK with an answer ...

As for the Team Fans, He was the glue that they KNEW would hold the Defense together this coming year while the others get up to speed ... a Bunch of young guys will be playing on the D* side this year ..
I know the Coaches were happy to have him back as well.

I personally think the 9th game is ridiculous outside of the Championship game.
Another opportunity to see players Opt Out ....
Hopefully no one gets injured and ruins a NFL career.
No moreso than a bowl game a month later.

And 9 is still less than the normal 12.

I guess ....

If your not in a Top Bowl game, they are pretty meaningless ....
This year, they will be played in the same area, so no warm weather games ...

Then again, is there going to be the regular Bowl games this year (outside of the Playoff games) ?

IF there is, then these 9th games could be important and meaningful ...

I haven't heard one way or the other yet.

I doubt we'll see many bowl games this year. They're all about making $$ and with attendance limits, etc. the economics would be awful. Plus they would fall in the midst of Flu season. I'll be shocked if the CFP games have any fans this year.

They MAY say No Fans at all for the playoffs .... depends on how the Covid situation is going.

Week 4 rankings are out. The Coaches added the Big Ten back into the polls, while they AP did not.

Do to how low the Big Ten teams are in the Coaches Poll (Ohio State down to #10), it would appear several coaches did not place any votes for the Big Ten. While the Big Ten have not played any games yet, neither have the SEC. So curious which coaches decided to ignore the Big Ten.

Thats a REALLY good question ...
How were the SEC in thier spots in the rankings, while the Big Ten were not, since NO ONE has played.
They removed the Big Ten, had they removed the SEC (like they should have) they wouldn't have much of a poll, as the ACC were the only ones that had played.

The Polls won't mean much this year till November from the looks of it.

Well, until recently the BIG 10 wasnt going to play, so it made sense that they would be removed. On the other hand, the SEC was scheduled to play, they just had not yet, so it makes sense that they wouldnt be removed.

With it basically being all conference matchups, it wouldnt bother me to just not have the polls at all this season.

Doesn't make sense how low the Big Ten schools are though. If anything they should be around where they were before.

Unless of course some coaches did not place votes for them in order to keep their teams up high and make it harder for the Big Ten schools to work their way back up.

Agreed, and is why I liked how the old Harris Poll used for the BCS didn't come out until after halfway through the season.

Though polls might be the only way to get a "champion" this year, as I'm not convince the bowls (much less playoff) will happen.

These are just basically Pre Season polls at this point, but I believe that the Big Ten had announced they were playing before this past weeks games, so they should have been included and back in the positions that they were originally .. Ex. Ohio State should be in the top 3 this week, but they are not ... Why, who knows ...

Then again, the Pre Season rankings are only to get us talking about them, and once again, it has done just that.

It will be an odd year poll wise ...
As long as teams are able to play, at the end of the year, the Playoff voters will get into the playoffs those that they want in them ... as is the case most years.

With only 4 P5 conferences playing this year, they'll just take the 4 conference champions unless one of them screws up and has 2 losses.

If your not in the SEC, having Any lose may knock you out.
Not really, 1-loss teams for other conferences have made it in (Oregon, Ohio St (twice), Clempson, Michigan St, Washington, and Oklahoma (four times), in addition to Georgia and Alabama (3 times).

In each case that a 1-loss team got in, there was no other undefeated P5 team available. There has never been a 2-loss team to get in. So where is the SEC advantage?

Even in the year where the SEC got 2 teams in, the Big Ten and Pac 12 Champions had 2 losses apiece. If Ohio St had lost to Wisconsin, then Alabama would have been left out in favor of Wisconsin, so blame your team for Alabama getting in (personally I think UCF should have been chosen that year instead of Alabama).
