Talk about a Cliff Hanger! What's worse, the strike is going to delay the next season.
They actually filmed 5 episodes before they stopped, maybe a very short season.

The problem is, a show like this this with all the post production things they need to do, have to do a lot of the re-recording of dialogue by the original actor after filming, ADR, that will not be happening until after the strike.

Agreed. Those 5 episodes are likely not broadcast ready, so while the strike continues, we'll be a-waiting...

Just watched the finale. There’s a part of me that wonders if this will end up being the series finale, between the strikes and Paramount cost-cutting.

Aside from the plot armor cladding certain characters, it was a well done episode that had me genuinely tense. I’m glad Spock and Chapel got to see each other even if there wasn’t true closure.

There’s going to be a lot said in the next week about how Pike just seized up during the attack. You know what, I’m fine with that. Pike is a peacetime captain. He was sent to the other side of the galaxy during the war. Maybe it wasn’t just to keep the Enterprise at the ready. Maybe it was because her captain isn’t a soldier.

Just stinks that we won’t get any resolution for two years or more.

Finally a good episode after the stupid animation episode, then a musical episode. So un-Trekish! I like SNW, but these dumb episodes take away from the flow of the series. The start of season 2 had two great episodes and the one between the anime and the musical was also quite good.

While not broadcast ready, they will have a head start on those 5 episodes, if they get the strikes settled by the end of the year, those 5 should be ready by summer, so a split/short season is possible.

Loved the last episode, but it is still reminding me of the multiple personalities it has had this year, most apparent in the last 4 episodes, Comedy to what war does to people to the musical to big action.

Also, the movie quality special effects ( and in 4K/DV) , shows why it takes so much time from filming to airing .

Maybe the will do an S3, Pt.1 & 2.
Starz is doing this with Outlander season 7. I am not happy about it as the second half isn't expected until 2024 and that interferes with my scheme to do shorter-term promotional subscriptions.

Other than ADR, I can't imagine what the strikes have to do with finalizing production. I reason that the technical stuff and the music shouldn't be impacted.

Using the video wall side steps the need for post-production CGI and allows what there is to be done in advance and incorporated in the shooting.

I doubt there is any need to composite to achieve HDR.

Except for all the space stuff, doubtful the saucer section scenes had anything to do eith video wall, especially whrn it crashed into the planet.

If you watch any of the making of, a lot of it on YouTube, shows how they use and implement DV.

Obviously that doesn't require that any real elements be in the scene. Where live is mixed with CGI, they mostly render it to the wall and computers take care of the point of view of the camera lens.
