I guess I've worked myself into a corner. The updated TNAP6 now enforces a user / password login that is different from the old root/root. There is a plugin called Change root password. I tried using it and obviously messed things up. I now cannot log into my Edision box though using it for watching channels works fine. It says the password is incorrect. As a result, I can no longer ftp files into the box, use telnet, and I can't stream from the box. Potplayer and VLC present a login screen which I can't crack.

Anybody have any luck with all of this?

Far fetched but is the danged firewall plugin running? I had the same thing happen.
Can you ssl into the box? EB versed me on the same thing over at his place.

I shut that firewall off. More trouble than it's worth for what I do.

Since I can't stream anymore, I also can't stream at the dish during orientation which used to help orienting the dish.

I saw your comms with el bandido. Interesting. I'm not so interested in Linux. I like catching satellites. Maybe the Edision line has left me behind.

You need to think, and reverse-engineer what you did when using this plugin. Did you use capitals, did you insert spaces, etc, etc...

IF you can't figure out what you changed your password to, you'll likely need to blow away the slot and reload it from scratch. OpenWebif - Update

My actuator is down and apart for a clean and grease. I asked about ssl (putty).
If you set and lost the password, if I remember there is a way to reset it using ssl (putty). Other than that you can reinstall 6 and not restore settings. Then remove the firewall plugin.

I don't think really think the Edision is doing you wrong. It's just that for reasons beyond me, being a 'training wheels' image. TNAP sure has a lot of stuff that pops up in updated versions that a least should be documented.
EB kinda' sometimes expects for users to immediately identify and fix the issues. I mean. Why a fire-stinkin'-wall in a satellite receiver? VPN? Maybe.
I was used to being able to straight forward use filezilla to restore the NIMS section in settings. That takes care of tuner configuration right away. After of course using putty to init 4 the box.
Then using me bleedin' channel editor (E-Channelizer) to write the bouquets and channels back in.

Without looking in the first place for a firewall that wasn't there before. I was probably like you. "The hell? Did I screw up the password? Is the IP messed up?" And pulling up my socks to ask EB. Glad you read my rebuttal there.
A firewall? Seriously?

All of those things (FTP, SSL, Channel editor) can be done in Windows. And since my lan IP is set static in the receiver (all image ip's are the same and the MAC stays the same). My router (which already has an okay firewall) has the dhcp lan set to reserve the same static ip for the receiver's MAC. No matter the slot that's running.
....if that makes sense.

I tested this ipk plugin and it works on tnap 6
Install with a usb stick and reboot enigma2 after the install then open plugins and open the plugin named Flash Backup To... Press the Yellow button on the remote to reset password to blank. I have never used the Flash part of the Plugin. Just uninstall the plugin afterward unless you want to keep it.

I used this plugin. It did reset the password to original. I know because now I can use the original password to login again via ftp or telnet. So this was successful. Thanks for this.

But still, with most current updated TNAP 6, when I try to stream via webif, or an app like Potplayer or VLC, then I'm presented with the login screen shown above in Post #1 or similar. Entering the original login credentials still doesn't work. It just prompts again. What other login info is there for the box?

I flashed the 10-27 TNAP 6 image in a unused slot and not having a problem streaming from OpenWebif but all my streaming channels from PlutoTV and SamsungTV are all <N/A> .
If you have a copy of TNAP 6 from August 2025 try that and do online software update to get the latest updates. That is what I have done lately just software updates.

Why don't you ask El Bandido at Legitfta? He designed it, so he can tell you.
