I'm glad he did it so the circus goes away. I'm really tired of the National media following the team and making it a distraction to the team. Not like we're going anywhere (Giants suck) but at least let them play without the distraction.

SAN DIEGO — San Francisco Giants slugger Barry Bonds, separated by a generation, reputation and stature, forever linked himself himself with Hank Aaron Saturday night, hitting his 755th career home run in the first inning against the San Diego Padres.
Bonds, who has hit more home runs against the Padres than any team in history, hit a 91-mph fastball off the left-center-field facing in the second deck at Petco Park off starter Clay Hensley.

* note the asterisk ( It will always be there)

There are two issues with Bonds for me...

1. He obviously cheated and used steroids at some point in his career. How can I cheer for someone who had a unfair advantage like that. I respect the game and record of Aaron to much to do that.

2. Bonds is a jerk (insert much stronger word if u like :D ). He is arrogant and selfish, abusive and disrespectful. Just can't bring myself to cheer for someone with that type of character.

Dude....please realize how what you posted sounds. IF there was no steroid controversy, they would STILL hound him because he was breaking one of THE MOST SACRED records in ALL of sports....thats all....

BUT since there is this controversy....the circus will not go away any time soon....he made his own bed......

But with that said, MLB is JUST at fault as anyone else. After the debacle of CANCELING the World Series....they would have done anything...ANYTHING to bring people back to the seats...and what better way than assulting the home run for a single season record??!! So they turned their backs to what was happening....the owners, the MLB office...and to a certain extent, the media.

As a Giants fan for over 20 years, I don't care if he broke the record or not. I just want this crap to be over. No one in the team and in the city wants the circus to continue, we just want it to be over.

As far as Bonds, yes he used steroids and it probably helped him break this record but is he a great player? Yes he is. In my book, he's the best player I've ever seen played baseball. It's shame he cheated but that was his choice and he's gonna pay for it, probably with an asterisk right next to this record.

Randall, the HOME RUN story is over, but now the STEROIDS STORY becomes bigger. So, unless Bonds retires or goes to another team, Ringling Brothers will be around for a while.

The home run story isn't over because the next one he hits will be the new record.

The Roid questions will go on well into his retirement.

I Did mention Frank Thomas, and ARod to, I guess they don't matter though!

I have a lot of Admiration for Frank Thomas here is a guy who hit for power, and average. He's a great person as well. He may be having a bad year this year, but I'm still happy to have him as a member of the Blue Jays!

ARod is an A-Hole to, but 500 HRs is a hell of an acomplishment. He'd better for that deal he got lol!

Don't get too caught up on the "nice guy" thing.....the sport crew I knew that covered the White Sox told me...then I witnessed ALOT 1st hand...that Frank Thomas is RIGHT UP there with the a**holes of the world like A-Rod and Bonds......
