Until we get something built that's better, you can use the WebIF TIMERS screen for setting automatic daily timers for OTA channels.

I'd much prefer an automated web grabber to grab EPG from Tvguide/Zap2it/TitanTv, and I have a manual one, BUT, I can't figure out as of yet how to get the Mio to see the downloaded XML data file and integrate it into the OTA EPG guide. There's Rytec automated epg plugin's for NA SatDreamGr, but even if you install them, they refuse to show up in the Plugins screen in order to set them up. Though the folder and files appear in the /root/etc/enigma2/epgimport folder, I suspect something in the image is stopping it from working. IF I could get that to work, maybe we could change the http sources in the file to grab from where we want.

You can set "Just Play" (channel zap) timers for OTA channels to run every day for a few minutes. Say for each MAIN channel of a group. Just long enough to grab updated PSIP EPG data for the main and sub channels. Set them like 5 minutes apart, or however long you think it takes to grab EPG for that channel, and have them fire off in turn. Sort of a red-necked automated way to do it, but works until we figure out something better.

Go into the WebIF screen by typing your Mio's IP address into your browser. Then upper LEFT corner, hit the TIMERS link, it'll bring that function up in the middle. Then "Add Timer" click "Just Play" box give it a name, then use the drop down channel list to select the channel. Set your first start day and times, SAVE, click on 'REPEATED for each day you want this to happen, SAVE.

By the way, you can set recording timers for both satellite and OTA tuners at the same time. They'll both work fine. Also, even when recording, you can still LIVE watch (or record at the same time) any OTA sub-channels from that station, OR channels on the same satellite transponder. Channels not live watchable right then will be grayed out.

P.S. IF you do this on a particular slot image, I do NOT know what would happen IF you are booted on a different slots image when it's time for a timer to fire off. I haven't tried that as of yet. Will it work, or will it skip that day? I suspect it would SKIP/not fire.

Did I miss something or did we lose support for the 955Q on the osmio4k?

Make sure you have this driver installed. Or whichever version is compatible with the version of TNAP you are now using. I have this driver in TNAP 4.2, but I stopped using the MIO for OTA, so no longer have the 955Q hooked up, so I can't check in TNAP 6: Best OTA Solution using Edision OS Mio+

TNAP images have the Hauppauge drivers pre installed.
Plug in the device then full reboot and you should see the little
lights on the Hauppauge light up showing it is powered.
Go to the tuner menu and it should be listed as tuner C in the Mio4k+
if it is the only usb device connected.

The light is on but nothing gets scanned in. The cable and antenna looks OK though. The tuner menu shows a Tuner C but it's identified as an LG LGDT 3306A (enabled), ATSC terrestrial, instead of Hauppauge 955Q. Rebooting doesn't help. I wish I had an external spectrum analyzer that covers the TV band.

I scanned using the other osmio4k that the wife uses, it found 8 channels but I couldn't get them saved. Her box is using TNAP 5.1 and identifies the 955Q as the LG also.

Yeah the LG Electronics LGDT 3306A is normal. Seems there may be a problem in the image of TNAP 5 that is causing the no scan. I have had that problem in the past.I don't know how to fix it myself other than upgrading or downgrading the image. The Lastest TNAP 5.1 dated 2024-07-29 has that problem also so do not try that one.

Maybe it's a permissions problem or something has to be added to a group?

Just bring it up to EB. If he doesn't know about it, he can't fix it. He's a real reasonable guy. Let him help you. I was the beta-tester on the original TNAP, and he's great to work with IF you are willing.

Don't assume that he already knows that there's a problem with the 955q, I've seen posts from him where his receiver is using a USB OTA tuner, not sure which one, and it's obviously working...

What is the date on the TNAP 5 ? is it an osmio4k or osmio4kPlus?
I found both versions on my HDD Dated 2023-0717. I could share.
Also found both versions of TNAP 5.1 from 2024-December but they are backups not original downloads.

Hard getting used to the new younger Gibbs, Mark Harmons son had the right look but I understand he didn't want the role.
Still I'm enjoying, pretty good job with Franks.

Sorry, I got the shows mixed up, were talking Origins ...
I've liked Most of them once we've gotten past the 1st 3-4, getting to know who was who took a bit in the beginning.
It's a bit harder seeing we already Know the person, then go back and see how they became that person.

Mark Harmon is coming back as Gibbs in Origins, for the full season. Just saw, Dinozzo too, on NCIS . That will be an interesting writing project.

I just received 6 receiver 2 port mini Multiswitch and it work great, no external power need it, and you can connect 6 receiver instead of 4 on most Mini Multiswitches... If anyone is interested in where they can get one PM me....

Have you tested using external power? Over the years, have found unpowered polarity switching to be unreliable. Especially problematic when used with DiSEqC motors or switch stacking.
H
No I have not. I just got it the other day and it is connected to six receivers working just fine. What I do is non power mini multi-switches work best with LNBF's and with LNB's
H
It also has a IPS and a OPS switch on the side of it with a power led light showing when is on. It seems to be very nice build switch

Wasn't exactly sure where to post this. Just had a customer come in inquiring about internet. He has HughesNet and had heard good things about mine. He asked if we provided email addresses and it kinda caught me off guard. I said he should be able to keep whatever email he had been using....my sister in law is still using a BellSouth email addy and they haven't been around here for many years. He said he had gotten a letter from HughesNet stating that they had until Nov 16th to save, move, forward, whatever, their Hughesnet emails because they would lose them after that date.

I have never heard of a company simply mass-deleting email accounts (the customer still has his HughesNet service). From what I understand, in the past, the company who was ditching their email service simply sold the customer base to a company like Google.

Anyone else getting this letter. He said he would show it to me tomorrow when I go out there and set up his internet.

Doing a Google of the HughesNet Email notice, it seems that HughesNet has been trying to eliminate hosting emails since 2019. And with HughesNet filing Chapter 11 back in August, it would be a smart move to switch to a more stable Email provider. Even AT&T farmed out their Email to Yahoo! years ago.

SpaceX's Starlink and the Cellular 5G Home Internet solutions have pretty much relegated HughesNet and its high latency, low bandwidth Internet service to History. If Earth had shorter days, maybe a Geostationary Internet Solution might have stood a fighting chance…

Well, I helped him set up a gmail acct....I actually wanted to see what the new process is for setting up a gmail acct since it had been years since I set mine up. Anyway, I showed him how to forward the emails he wanted to keep over.

For some reason, the satelliteguys.us site is loading a lot slower than usual on both Chrome on my Asus laptop and Safari on my iPhone.
I'm also seeing longer appearances of the blue bar at the top and the "3 blue bars" loading symbol.
Is anyone else also having the same problem? Thanks in advance.

Can't help but wonder if a worker overlooked checking the harness. I rarely ride a roller coaster anymore but when I do I check the harness myself pretty aggressively.
Can't imagine what the son is going through.

Back on the Goliath Roller Coaster ... I'm interested to find more details as well ...
Like where on the track did this happen (somewhere I read that it was on the climb up the top), which is impossible ...

They really need to take that ride and add at the very least, seatbelts ...

The Park is opening back up on Friday, the ride will Not be opening ... personally, I would keep it closed until different type of restraints can be designed and installed (over the winter).

I find it hard to believe that this ride is even allowed to be running with the restraints that exist at the moment, there are other rides that use the same type and they have been shut down across the country.

You got to believe that every ride has at least 2 types of restraint systems in place.

I wonder what and when we will hear from the Manufacturer ... and whatever governing bodies control these ...

Just think, this is a Major Amusement Park .... I would not have any problem getting on the Roller Coasters I have rode ...

Imagine what these County Fairs and others like them, I would not be caught Dead on one of them ... they get put up and tore down every other week, where is the safety for those rides ... No Thank You.

Had no idea there were that many redundancies built into those restraints.

It makes sense, however, I would want more types of restraints, so if one doesn't work, the other does ... the restraints coming over the shoulder I would have expected ... with a Seat belt as last resort.

Fwiw, I inquired with what they use on Coasters at Cedar Point, various Coasters, different restraints according to what the car and track requires ...

NONE of the Coasters at CP use THAT particular system :)
I'm glad to see ...

According to the article, when you see a seat belt on a ride like this, it is basically used as a way of making sure the rider isn't too large/fat to safely ride the ride.
