I was looking into 3 hoppers and 1 joey, But I would go with a 4th hopper, but again really unsure of the cost for either. Upfront cost would be a big deciding factor for me.
But I was going to wait until December anyway, I have an upgrade with Directv, but I may certainly look into my options as well since it will be contract time.[/QUOTE

Right now DishDepot.com has the Hopper with Sling on sale for $199. Two Hoppers with Sling and a free Duo Node for $399. Free shipping. Just will have to see what is happening in December.

Guys let's not turn this into another dish vs directv thread please. Keep it in the war zone.

Sorry, I seem to be a sucker for troll bait, so it seems. You never see me in DirecTV threads crapping on their systems, yet I always seem to encounter DirecTV folks here in the DISH forum attempting to thread crap. I know that I take the bait too often but it seems that that is what I have to do to set the record straight when the trolls are making fallacies.

Thanks for cleaning up the thread, because believe it or not I really don't want to go to war. Almost all the war zone threads I've ever participated in were threads previously in the Dish forum that were crapped on by trolls.

$399 for 2HwS + Duo Node is a good deal if you can't get Dish to supply a free Node (i.e. self install.)

that's what I want to avoid here and in the directv forums, moving threads to the warzone when this happens. This thread is useful and caught my eye because it has information that interest me. Otherwise I probably would've never seen what was going on until it was too late. Thread crapping and trolling should always be reported. We'll do our best to take care of it. Thanks guys. Let's get this thread back on track.:)

I didn't have to pay for my two Duo Nodes and a second DPP44 switch. I had two Hoppers with Sling I purchased from DishDepot.com and the Installer brought two more Hoppers with Sling, a Joey, two Duo Nodes, and a DPP44 switch with him on install day. I purchased a Duo Node that I needed for size and fit when I worked on my Headend board getting it ready for the Hopper/Joey system. It is a spare Duo Node now.

why 3 hoppers 1 joey? thats 9 tuners and 4 rooms why not go with 2 hoppers 2 joeys 6 tuners should be plenty for anyone lol plus joeys are so much easier to conceal
I have a 9 tuner system now., I want the ability to watch live tv and record in all 4 rooms at the same time. So I figured 3 hoppers would be better.

Ok right now Dish said they will give me 2 hoppers and 2 joeys for $99 .So how would this work with Dish depot? I can buy from them and dish will still install it all for free? Reason I'm asking is Dish Networks price was a lot more then $199.

They installed four Hoppers (two I purchased, two from Dish) a Joey, and required switches/Nodes for me free. The only thing I purchased was the two Hoppers. You might PM a DIRT member first. I am not sure if they can handle a new customer that requires three Hoppers. You may have to call Dish and go thru their upper level team. I forgot what they are called. Which model Hoppers are they for $99? The Hopper with Sling is the better Hopper to get. Not so much for the Sling part, but the processer is faster.

I just assumed it was the hopper with sling! But I didn't ask because I don't do sling so I didn't really care, but now that you mentioned that I'll ask. CSR was helpful but she kept trying to sell me on the 2 hopper set up. My mother is getting fed up with cable right now , since I still have 10 months to go with Directv. I think we are going to look into a 2 room set up for my mom, and I'll get a chance to play around with it too.

Well, I think Dish CSR assumes you mean the original Hopper unless you request Hopper with Sling. You might want to get at least one Hopper with Sling. You never know you might want to use it sometime. You could be on vacation someplace and there is something real important you recorded on your Hopper and wish to watch it. Just hop on Hopper with your laptop do some slinging. You could put it at your main primary TV since it performs a little faster.

Did you guys win the lottery or something? How do you afford all those TVs and programming fees? Those systems blow my mind, very impressive.

LOL Scherrman, no lottery. I have convinced the good wife that Dish TV is my hobby that she reaps benefits too. It truly is my one and only hobby so I look at it that way and just pay the damn bill. Dish sent me emails that the price break is ending soon for the Outdoor Sports, Multi-Sport, and Heartland packages. So I will probably cancel them and also might cancel International Basic, Italian Raitalia, and the Protection Plan. That takes a little steam out of the bill my wife should appreciate. I have her happy for now, BUT I have to operate the remote control!

I was going to include a picture of my panel with switches, cables, etc. but decided against it as it comes nowhere near what has been posted by others here.

The only thing I see missing from all the pics posted here is a 7/16 open end wrench which I have hanging on my board. Very handy to have it there for the numerous times I decide to change something.

7/16 wrench, what about your torque wrench? I keep my TV/Telephone tool box right by my headend board area in the basement along with lotsa parts and a small step ladder ready to spring in action.
