82 works good here with the 30"...from mid 50's to 75% But as I said the only solution here is to try a 36" and see what happens-it will surprise me if it does not work...

I have just ordered Shawdirect to take to Florida in October. I will be starting with the Digital Indulgence Lite package. If there is anyone in Florida with Shawdirect at the present time, would you please let me know what channels you get? There appears to be some confusion on their website. As well I would like to know if you receive TSN Habs (135?). I know that there is no hockey right now, but I would like to know if you get the channel. By the way I live in Ontario.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

what package is that? I know of Digital Lite which is like $30 and the only thing that can be added is TSN HD

I show it here

what part of Ontario?
Here is from the TSN site about who gets it
TSN presents games to viewers in Quebec, Atlantic Canada and parts of Eastern Ontario, including Ottawa, Belleville, Kingston and Pembroke with 30 Canadiens games to be broadcast regionally

Since its a part time feed of TSN as long as you are in the correct area you will get the games. (it works the same as what TSN Leafs was a few years ago)

I just returned to Colorado from an extended trip to Canada and no longer have satellite reception on both my receivers (4100 and 6400). Is this due to the new satellite and a change in coverage over the US? Am I basically out of luck for getting Bell reception now?

Thanks!

Digital Indulgence Lite was suggested by the person I spoke to when I placed my order. It offers a little less than the Bronze package and costs $45.99. I live in the Toronto area of Ontario. After I arrive in Florida, maybe I will "change my address" to that of my sister who lives in Ottawa!!!
I would appreciate it if someone living in the Ocala, Florida area right now and who has Shawdirect Digital Indulgence Lite or Bronze would let me know what channels are offered.
Thanks.

Shaw Direct in North Carolina.

I finished installing my new Shaw Direct system that I brought to North Carolina from Ontario this past weekend. A couple of points for those making the change from Bell.

  1. They will now send you the new xKU LNB for Triple Satellite service. (There will be a new Anik G1 in orbit this Fall @ 107W)

    2. Because of the new LNB, if you get the HDPVR 630 like I did, you will need to tune on channels 250 and 252 NOT 299 as the receiver wants to do for signal levels. There is a pdf at the Shaw site that explains this. Something to do with the output frequency of the LNB.

    3. I got this tip from DigitalHome.ca and the poster couldn't stress it enough. MAKE SURE THE MAST IS PLUMB. Common sense right? It will make tuning so much easier. BTW, the co-ordinates from DishPointer.com are good to use. Look at skew, elevation and azimuth. Aiming is a bit more touchy than a DBS system.

    4. Once you get the receiver authorised you will need to download the channel map (this could take a while)

    5. There is a new firmware version 7.33 that you can download over night. My box came with 6.22

Now that I have it up and running and checking out some of the channels (I have the Populaire français package) I think that the picture quality is better than Bell Tele. The HD is spectacular watching the Olympic games. SD is not bad as MSNBC looks rather good (not sure why it isn't in HD like CNN, but whatever). Signal levels, without much tweeking is 85-97 depending on Transponder/Channel.

In essence I am glad that I made the switch. Thank you Bell Tele. I now have better service with higher signal levels. AND.... this company doesn't mind if you bring your system to the "southern provinces"

Leesburg you can see the Bronze channels on the Shaw website. For some reason they dont mention the Digital Indulgence pkgs on theyre website but if you Google around you should be able to find info. From what people have said the DI pkgs are nicer than the Digital Lit pkgs because you can add more add-ons to them.

googling shows this as the channel list (pricing is a year old)

Reporting from Salt Lake City:

Once Bell changed N4 I was SOL until I moved to a 30X33 dish for 82 alone, and a regular 20 for 91.
Now that Nimiq 6 is up (I spent the summer away from TV and didnt notice til now) 91 is completely extinct for me, but conversely my N4 levels have gone up slightly... go figure.

I carried my subscription, NHL Center ice and all, down here for a decade just so I wouldnt have to deal with the mostly horrible US hockey coverage (and absolute lack of canadian team games).

I guess its time for Bell to get the second finger salute.

I hear a lot of talk about Shaw, is their HNIC in HD and do they have some sort of NHL package... aside from a few HD presentations hockey is the only reason I turn on the TV.

Thanks in advance for any feedback or advice.

cbc toronto is in HD on Shaw Direct. all the other CBCs are in standard def
yes but that doesnt matter because HNIC is live so toronto has it the same time as everyone else so why would anyone watch SD when they can get HD at the same time? Bygfoot was asking about hockey not about TV shows that aren't all on at the same time.
