This is what It's looking like on my end. As a comparison I've uploaded a picture of Russia Today on the same transponder. Another question are you guys receiving AJE on transponder 11998 or on 12152 as lyngsat lists it as being on both?

Al Jazeera is supposed to turn off 1 of the TP services this month I beleive. I saw a crawl few weeks ago. I can not test now so can not comment further.

I'm watching 12152 on an old CRT set, and the picture fills the screen in a 4:3 aspect ratio.

Getting it on 12152 on my Pansat 3500SD, and am getting exactly the same thing you are getting, squished and long! I think I was on the channel earlier today, and I didn't notice it then (and I certainly would have noticed it).

What receiver are you using?

I'm watching on a fortec Mercury II. I'll try hooking up my Coolsat later and see if the problem is just with the fortec receiver or if it follows me to the CS. Glad to know it's not just me.

Edit: Just tried my Coolsat 8000 and the problem exists there as well. If I mess around with aspect ratios on both the receiver and TV I can get the darn thing to display in 4x3 un-stretched mode but by default the picture is just like my Mercury II

I deleted the channel and re-scanned it back in, but no change (didn't really expect it to correct it). Hopefully, it will not stay this way.

Wikipedia says that footage is shot in 16:9, but then converted to 14:9. See [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/14:9"]14:9 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia@@AMEPARAM@@/wiki/File:Question_book-new.svg" class="image"><img alt="Question book-new.svg" src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/9/99/Question_book-new.svg/50px-Question_book-new.svg.png"@@AMEPARAM@@en/thumb/9/99/Question_book-new.svg/50px-Question_book-new.svg.png[/ame].

Same thing here with a Viewsat MAXHD. In order to remove the stretching I have to switch my TV to "4:3 HD" mode. Sounds like they have an incorrect flag bit in the signal somehow.

Still looks normal here today.

I believe we ARE their intended audience, would someone who is having this problem want to write Al Jazeera and mention it?
