So we are coming from E, what about the Genie system does everyone like? It's been over 3 years since we've had Directv, is there a new Dish out since then?

Same dish, but the swm lnb or swm switch is used often. One of the installers can give you a better idea how often.

This is correct. You need your genie connected to the Internet then download the directv app onto your iPhone or Android to use this.

I heard about this awhile back, but it was in a commercial and have seen No info about it since ...

So this actually works ...

Hmmm, might have to play with it and see whats what.

I think on the commercial, they made it sound like you talked to the recvr itself and it did whatever you asked.
Possibly... I ignore all dtv commercials now as it became my job to debunk all the bs in them. Believe it or not I still deal with "so wireless still needs power and video wires.. so it's really two wires" and "I thought you guys didn't need ANY boxes on tvs now".. since all that started I gave up on our commercials...

Your doing better than me, for the most part I don't listen to ANY commercials ....
I get the same type of questions as you, seeing we are partnered with you guys, they often ask me about the Wireless as well.

Came from Dish myself last year & been loving it. I like the Genie with actual 5 tuners you can use but I still preferred the Hopper especially with the Sling feature. However, that's the only thing I missed with Dish which I replaced by getting a Sling type device attached to my Genie.

Last year I was advised here to make sure they install a HR44 Genie & not the more troublesome & older HR34. You can read more about that on older threads here. After experiencing Uverse, Comcast & Dish, Directv just seems a little more refined in both product & customer support. I don't think you'll regret switching, I certainly haven't.

Directv commercials have become so stupid that I honestly think I wouldn't have subscribed if they aired a few years ago.

My recollection is that they showed the viewer talking into his phone (at least with the ad where dad is looking for family programming).

That could be, I just probably didn't notice the phone, but you would think they would make a point of letting people know thats what was happening.

You don't advertise what you don't want people to think about.

In the case of the "no ugly wires" claims, we know it's not truly wireless but they're not going to point it out (unless it is in some tiny typeface in a low-contrast color). The wires are only ugly wires if you can see them, right?
