When Sat Radio came out several years ago, I said, "hell no, I'm not paying (I think it was 10 bucks a month then) for radio when I'm getting it for free. Then I bought the first of 5 vehicles that came with a 90 day tryout or something like that. I liked it but still didn't want to pay for it. This was back in the early days and they had a lifetime deal for about $360 or so with the ability to switch to new vehicles. I figured 3 years and then I'm getting a free ride. Well, the first switch went smoothly, but I think I ran into "we don't offer lifetime subscriptions anymore". I pointed out thatI had an agreement and after a little moaning, they switched it to my new ride. Same thing with the 3rd switch. The 4th time I had to talk with a supervisor and was told "this is the last time" plus a $75 switch fee. So I just bought a new ride, maybe my last as I'm 79 and it's a dream ride (Genesis S80) with yet another 3 month free tryout.
So I called them one more time and this time I had to go up the "chain of command". A nice lady said I was only entitled to 2 switches on my plan but she would make an exception ONE MORE time (again for the $75 fee). I went into my files after that and sure enough, I did find my original agreement and it did say the lifetime agreement was for only 2 upgrades.
I'm a commited Sat Radio user and when I get into my wife's car with a normal radio, I can't stand the gabber gabber that goes on and on between music.
